    Re: bump in the trunk

alpine and jl both have strong amplifiers JL's "slash series" puts out a lot of power.. alpines PDX series is a suitcase amp so its very very small and all digital so it doesnt over heat.. i sell these the most.. they put out jsut as much power but are one of the cleanest amps i have heard

    Re: bump in the trunk

us amps and re audio.... eBay them. I hit a 148.3 with one ten in a fiberglass enclosure I want to see jl do that haha... I sell both of those products there great. Plus you can get a 10" sub for about 130 and a usamp for about 180. Or you can pm me and I'll hook you up the best I can.

    Zapco is very nice
Memphis is good to but only the priemium stuff

    Re: bump in the trunk

i used to have a 15" kicker and two 12" kicker comps in my M3, way over kill. for my A4 I picked up a Sub/Amp/Box all in one combo (kenwood) from bestbuy, easy to hook up, way better then factory, was only like $200, and doesn't fill my whole trunk.

here it is for $149: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...KSC-WD250.html

    Re: bump in the trunk

I'm running all alpine components(amps, speakers, and head unit). The clarity is amazing. One of the lower powered pdx amps should be within that price range. Plus if you decide to expand in the future you can stack the pdx amps on top of each other.

    Re: bump in the trunk

i know i'll get flamed for the circuit city special - but i ran a MTX class-D in my eclipse way back in the day and it was a great little amp... that thing sure could move a sub. but i'm no audiophile - so it's w/e. i just wanted loud

(ran that same amp in my old minivan WAY back when hahahaha)

    Re: bump in the trunk

Zapco is premium stuff and but not very affordable. Plus, no warranty if you install it yourself.

I would avoid MTX, MA audio, audiobahn (for the love of god, anyone with an audiobahn sticker on their car should be shot on site) and soundstream. I personally loved soundstream when they were a domestic company, but they're garbage unless you can find something old school. Same for Rockford Fosgate

Try to find a JBL amp in your price range. Lots of bang for the buck.

I have done a lot of installs for friends and found JBL amps to be very surprising. They are powerhouses, however, typically have minimal adjustability.

My creds... I built a SQ competition system with denon HU, zapco balanced processing, soundstream reference amps (4 of them), and dyn speakers.
I am also an avid audio equipment buyer (not like those guys with their sales pitches above)
calm the fuck down. it's all relative.

    Re: bump in the trunk

my friend just put 2 1000 watt rms rockford fosgate subs and a 1600 watt rockford fosgate amp in his trunk. That system, if it's up loud, makes me feel like my heart is skipping beats sometimes. It's really clean bass though it's not disgusting and rattling sounding. IMO rockford fosgate makes very good quality stuff. But it's like most of these guys said, you have to pay more to get their good quality stuff. But just search craigslist and sometimes you'll find some sick deals. My friend got the amp, subs and a dual bandpass box for $200 and it's basically brand new equipment, just last years models.

2nd on Alpine amps. Always worked well for me. And Sonic Electronics or Online Car Stereo has them at very reasonable prices.
