I had said I would post some progress on this lil project of mounting LED's in the grilles next to the fog lamps so heres what I got so far.....basically everything is done except mounting them in the car which I am going to go into work early tomorrow and do
LED's from www.oznium.com the superflex 4 cell LED's
First get the grilles out of the car obviously
The one grille you have to fill in one of the slots since it is open for the intercooler. Since I have access to all kinds of plastic bonding stuff working in a body shop this was fairly easy, I cut out a piece of a nissan bumper and cut it to fit the slot, then glued it in using some 3M TPO plastic repair
Then you have to drill all of the holes, 3/8" holes 1 inch apart in this case.
Then you have to glue all of the LED's in, I picked up this 2 part 5 minute plastic weld stuff since I did this part at home and couldn't bring the stuff home from work that I needed. Once you have them glued in I also glued them again on the backside and siliconed them just to be safe that no water got in (even though the LED's are waterproof).
Now its a matter of just grouping all of your wires and soldering them up and shrink wrapping them. (I am planning on covering up the wires and silicone with some sort of black tape to make it a little cleaner and to be sure that you don't see the wires from the front side)
and you are ready to mount them into the car and wire them up
heres what they look like out of the car...
I ordered another fog light switch to match the ones I have and I am gonna put DRL on it to set it off from the other fog light switch, I just wanted to be able to turn them on and off at my will, rather than having them on all the time when my lights are on.
I will post up more pics tomorrow night once I have them in my car.
if anyone has any ideas that could make this project any better let me know i'd love to hear about it......and if you have any criticism about it.....feel free to let me know i am welcome to it
