    Talking Getting ready for H2O...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Did a couple quick mods in the past few weeks...

    First... a JL Audio W6, 13.5" pushed by a JL Audio 500/1...

Then had the front windshield tinted 50%...

Then I got the car cleaned... A buddy of mine did it... He started at 8:30 this morning, and finished around 5pm... Cleaned EVERYTHING... Looks like it just came off the showroom...

Capt... The only reason I did it is because I had lasik, and the sun really bothers my eyes... Even when it isn't sunny out, it still bothers me...

OneBad... Love the W6... This is the first sub I have had in the Audi, so I have nothing to compare it to, sorry...

I've noticed that some are matte and some are glossy.

Mine and Mark's (SKIDMRK) are glossy, but Lindsay's (LilWhiteB6B!ch) are matte, for example.

I think it looks GREAT! The wheels look perfect, and of course, it's simply too clean (no, I know isn't such a thing as too clean). After H2O, you have to get it out and get it dirty again!

Regarding tint, I personally like them when they're tinted 50% all the way around, including the windshield. My right eye doesn't dilate at all, so I can *feel* your pain. That's why you'll hardly ever see me outside in the sun without my sunglasses on. That, or I'll be squinting my right eye.

I haven't been to H2O in several years but would love to go back one day.

Interesting. I'd love to have mine matte. Might take 'em off and paint them. I've got some other 'mods' brewing in my mind for next year. Cosmetic things since the drivetrain is done.

I'd also love to go down to H2Oi but, alas, no Avant right now . and it looks like rain all weekend (up here). Guess I'll finally get around to cleaning that basement and rewiring/insulating it.

The point was already made, it's unsafe. Sunglasses, unlike window tint, do not distort detail/sharpness, and at night, you can take them off, which can't be said for windshield tint. It’s a poor excuse. I had laser eye surgery myself, the older, PRK kind, which makes the eyes a lot more sensitive to sunlight than Lasik, since the outer most layer of the eye is completely removed during the procedure and has to grow back over time, whereas Lasik requires the surface to be cut, peeled away for the procedure and then placed back… Anyway, I used it as an excuse to wear sunglasses in school But I wouldn’t do it for something as stupid as tinting the windshield.

Mxrz... I misspoke, I had PRK.... I always get them confussed... Anyway, no need to start a pissing match over tint... It isn't super dark, only 50%, and I like and paid for it...

We can agree to disagree. Knowing the dangers, I stand by my opinion that windshield tinting is irresponsible. I would probably say nothing if it was 75% but 50% is half of all the light being blocked, it's too much.

Just curious, is it difficult to see at all at night with the 50% tint? I basically was talked out of doing it by people who claimed that it was difficult to see at night even with a light tint. Just wanted to hear your thoughts.

Good luck at H2O, I won't be down this year so take a lot of pictures!
