my CEL cherry that is... what did you think I meant?

I'm not sure if this has been a topic before but... how long after you bought your car did you get your first CEL?

I bought a 2003 3.0 with 50000 miles and it took me 2 years and 2 months with 32000 miles before I got my first. Seems like a pretty long time to me!

A month after my 2 year CPO warranty ended, I got mine. Luckily I caught the vacuum hose that had a hole in it and it hasn't been back since. I've stayed all stock drivetrain-wise though.

I bought mine with 47k and didn't get a cel until around 95k due to vacuum leak and only one other that was a gremlin since it went away with no issues??? We'll see, very pleased thus far

I had my car for about 1 hour before the CEL came on!

Thermostat was stuck closed and the ECT sensor had taken a crap. But after I fixed those it hasnt been back for almost 2 years. (But since I have test pipe it is always on, though!)

3 months after, CEL came on for a coilpack. Car started shaking and sputtering, scared the crap out me. Once I looked into it and saw it was a common problem. No biggie. Always carry a spare because you never know when a cp is gonna go.

I think it does.

I got mine after about 2 months when it was around 66k. I had misfires on all four cylinders after my first oil change. Don't know why i guess It didn't like me at the time.

i thought test pipes have that fouler thingie??.. that doesnt cause cel to go on?... faaaak, im getting mine installed any day now and i thought straightpiping caused cel but not test pipes...

I think it was a few weeks. CEL for the "cat performing below acceptable levels". How does the cat go bad on a car that is still in the exempt from emissions year span?

got mine about about 10 months after i got my car.

funny thing, i had just installed my rs4 rear sway bar and was taking it out for a test drive. i floored it coming out of a bend and next thing you know....

luckily i read up on the forums and knew about coilpacks and that failure was imminent, so i had spares in my trunk. popped those in and was back in action...

so yes, my rear sway bar popped my cherry...

A buddy of mine picked up his B6 not to long ago, and the car sales man drove it up to the door of the dealer for a test drive with the CEL on and when my buddy got in he asked why was the CEL on the sales told him not to worry about it, because it was AUDI thing.

Turned out to be a vaccum leak we fixed after he bought it.

Mine came on about 1 month after I bought it. Vaccum leak, then about a month or two later I got one for 2 bad coilpacks.

test pipe = part of straight pipes..... if you remove your cats you get a CEL.

just get REVO, APR, Uni, ASP, etc that will set the readiness code for it to pass (permanently).

the angle blocks (a type of 02 spacer like antifoulers) seem to work pretty well. give one of those a shot if you don't want to upgrade software right now
