Simple mod gone bad. 'u thot u had a deal'

1st time posting N very dissapointed in maself for loosing $350 on what i thought was a great deal for painted lowers and front bumper. Average quote ranged btw $800-$500 so when this body shop quoted me 250 just for lowers, i choose to included the front bumper for $100 more. [ bumper had a few minor chips] I even removed the sides and grills maself to make the job smooth sailin' when i dropped my beloved b6 8am monday morning. All i asked for was for them to 1. Match the color and 2. Assurance paint wount peal. I figured they're pros i shouldnt worry.

Come 6 pm N im about to choke this stupid M**f**rs for a shitty job. It's obvious they never did any sanding, I've got sections of drippin paint N my front bumper doesn't quite match the rest of the car. How can i even ask them to re-do the job N end up f*ing my car even more. I will not take a chance with that. Never again.

Lesson learnt. "you think u want great results, then be ready to spend" If you not; go buy a civic.

That's why I have a BBK and not painted lowers... well that and I really don't like painted lowers...

You could drop the pieces off to have them painted... then if you like the look, have them mount them... that way they are not holding your car hostage in the event you have a dispute over their work...

Not a total loss just remove the lowers and sand out the runs in the clear coat and have them re-spray them. I would definately complain and make them do it again. "Squeaky wheel gets the grease" trust me I know I work at a Collision Center

Saving money isnt really being a cheap ass. Knowing how to spot a shitty shop BEFORE you hire them to do work is being a bit dumb, though unless they did one hell of a smoke and mirror act to suck you in.

I use Clint for my work for a fraction of the cost most shops would charge to do the same work

I always get references when trying out a new paint place or see some work firsthand. I've found a place near me that's about half of what I've gotten quoted other places and sure it's not absolutely 100% perfect, but its dang near 95% and at half the cost, so I'll give them my business until I'm comfortable with myself handling it.

I don't see why you can't just bitch them out on the spot. Tell them you want a partial refund for the labor and will be going to another shop to get this done right.

As well, tell them you will be posting pictures of their horrible workmanship all over a popular car forum along with the name and address of their shop.

I agree with Kitrell, its irritating to read posts like this because half the time the words are so botched I have to actually piece together what they were thinking.

for instance:

maself = myself. come on, this is is ridiculous. the 'y' is not any harder to type than the 'a'

Its not difficult to type full words, we arent texting each other with a non-qwerty keyboards. It just makes the OP sound ignorant.

And back to the issue at hand... I would put up a big fight, I've done it in the past over what most would call very trivial details. One shop made it right, the other (supposedly the best in town) tried to BS their way out of it. If you paid with a CC you can have the CC company place a hold on the payment until its straitened out. I do agree with the others as well, you get what you pay for. This is especially applicable with bodywork, there are far too many "professionals" out there who are out to rip you off with shoddy work, you NEED to complain and if they don't fix it or refund the money then report them to the BBB.
