My DV (I'm assuming) sounds like a BOV!

When I'm driving under boost, and I let off the accelerator, I hear a noise that sounds like a blow off valve.

Is this what some refer to as a fluttering dv?

    Time for a new one?

The car is stock a4 1.8T Tip

    Thanks

sounds normal to me... our stock dv's produce some noise but you kind of have to be listening for it for it to be loud enough.. did you buy it used?? and if so.. how do you know its stock.. you ocould have aftermarket.. or a cone filter on your MAF

The stock one is definately audible. Not too loud but can definately be heard. It sounds fairly high pitched and more of a quick ping as opposed to an aftermarket BOV which sounds like a larger mass of air is escaping.

I did buy it used with 5x,xxx miles on it. The DV didn't sound like that before though.
I'm fairly certain it is stock, b/c if this is modded performance that I'm experiencing right now, I would need a 350 block to make me happy.

if the turbo pipe comes off of the mouth of the turbo you'll hear a strong rush of air that sounds exactly like a loud BOV when the throttle is released. if you're completely stock this isn't a common problem, but it happened when i put an aftermarket TIP on with a bad clamp.

...interesting, I'll have to take a look at that.
The sound is definitely loud, and it seems to be a fluttering sound, not just a straight rush of air.

I experienced that sound when my stock turbo inlet pipe was splitted just before the mouth of the turbo...
