Folks, your opinions and suggestions are needed
I picked up an RS4 exhaust from a friend who swapped his with an aftermarket one. My 1.8T is in the garage now on the lift.. Stock exhaust is removed to put on the RS4 exhaust (with custom modifying the rear bumper openings)
I know am not going to get near the RS4 exhaust tone,, however, the looks of it are sharp and i wanted to get it..
PROBLEM!
The RS4 mufflers are HUGE such that it interferes' with the Spare tire by 4 inches on each side!! taking the spare out and cutting where the mufflers need to go is a big job,, and i am not considering this as an option.
Mechanic's possible solutions:
1. Run straight exhaust (while keeping the stock Cat. but no mufflers) and attaching the RS4 tips. This will be done by running a Y pipe at the begenning of the exhaust, and a Y pipe at each tip in the back.
2. Weld back the original exhaust, chop the tips off and put RS4 tips (where one of the internal openings of the RS4 tip will be a dummy)
3. Do nothing. (Weld the original exhaust back)
I am confused now, I really want that RS4 rear tips looks in the back.. however, I am worried that car will sound like a fart-can having Straight back exhaust.
