    P0171...system too lean

i have been throwing this code on and off for a month now and its on my last nerve....it threw it once a couple weeks after i went apr1+...erased it car was fine....next week i got my exhaust,TIP/intake, and removed some SAI "uselessness", new n75k, and new dv....drove home got the code again....erased it...came on but turned itself 2 days later for 2 weeks....now it is just on and wont go away unless i erase it....i have changed coilpacks and got one step colder plugs when i first chipped it to stage one.....after the codes i have changed the fuel filter ran seafoam through the gas tank to clean all that.....im guessing its o2 sensors bc it still idles fine which if it didnt would indicate a problem with the maf? i told the shop to load the testpipe file when i got the apr1+...could that be the issue??

any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.....

Might be a vacuum leak. And most likely one of your (or more) check valves is done.

Sorry, I'm feeling lazy right now. Run a search on P0171, user name old guy. I'm sure it will pull up several discussions. Hopefully one will help.

    cheers!

Open your hood and see if u can hear any unusual air noises. Also, try to look for any broken hoses visually while engine is cold (it would be much easier :)))

I had that code, then I found out someone installed a BOV and once I put the Forge 007 DV it, it cleared and never came back along with fixing a few vacuum lines and boost leak.

Im gonna say that is is most likely the MAF sensor. Mine did this with the same code. Would turn on/off, etc. If you want to double check before you buy a new one, get a vagcom, and log air mass readings under WOT.
