    kind of searched.. SPRINGS!

forge 007 from 20v turbo, don't know what spring is in it right now (car is too hot to bother taking it out.. waiting for cool down)

Anyway I want to run anywhere from 21-23 psi, if I do have the yellow spring in there (I hope, don't want to buy the kit) then how many washers should I be using?

(car currently holds 17psi.. trying to trouble shoot possible leakage without pressure testing yet)

And if my dv actually had the green spring, I wouldn't be able to put enough washers in would I?

Well the forge site says by using the spacres you will increase by small increments...so don't think green w/3 spacers = yellow w/o spacers. I would think a yellow+1 spacer should be ideal for your aplication. I might be wrong though.

    Green-5-15 PSI
    Yellow-15-23 PSI
    Blue-23-30 PSI
    Red-30 + PSI

I am using the Yellow spring with GIAC FX and peak at around 20-21, so maybe yellow spring with one spacer for 21-23.

UGGGH yeah so my spring is definitely red... I'm going to damage my turbo if I continue to boost with that spring aren't I?

Time to buy a spring tuning kit huh. Luckily my stock dv still holds 20 psi for some reason, I've beaten the hell out of that thing

umm...if you have the red one, than it holds up to 30+ psi. If you're not boosting that much, why would it be damaging anything? Just from what I am gathering. Unless forge dv's are application specific which I don't know.

"Please note - fitting a stronger spring into a valve will not increase boost pressure unless existing pressure is being lost. Failure to allow the valve to operate by installing a spring which is to strong may cause damage to the turbocharger"

also there is a way to check if the dv is leaking, do i just push the piston up from the bottom with a screw driver or equivalent and then put my finger over the tiny vacuum end? If the piston returns back to its spot there is a leak correct? or.. do I have to plug up the other end as well

Cant remeber how to test the DV but if you take it apart, clean it and regrease it since it is a piston type it should be good to go... with the red spring you shouldn't see low boost pressures unless you have a leak somewhere else.

A lot of good information in there.

Try reinstalling the DV in the "reversed from OE" orientation direction, that is with the large bottom connection to the turbo compressor discharge > intercooler inlet pipe, and the DV side port connected to the turbo compressor inlet hose. The Dv will hold more boost without leaking in the reversed from OE orientation direction, by using boost pressure to help keep the DV closed, while allowing for the lightest spring to be used. In general, the lightest spring rate possilbe while providing for a tight seal under boost, is prefered for best DV response. Adding sping preload, or using a stiffer spring will delay the opening response of the DV when lifting the throttle during gear shifts.

    Re: kind of searched.. SPRINGS!

yeah I'm pretty sure I'm just leaking somewhere now, both stock and forge are holding 17 psi. Took the forge apart and rubbed the excess grease back onto the o-rings. So I guess I'll just go through all the hoses tomorrow and tighten everything down as much as possible.

Some clamps were only tightened with a screw driver, which could potentially be my problem? Guess I underestimated the ability of the pressure to sneak out
