let's talk spark plugs and revo

So... I just got my ecu back from ecode. Did NOT get my spark plugs and mbc that were supposed to be packaged with it. Still do not have my 440cc injectors either. Those will be here tomorrow. >:(

ANYWAYS the idle is rough right now, it idles at 800 then slowly drops and drops until i turn it off. This has to be due to the spark plugs and not fuel injectors correct?

If so I'm just going to autozone and pick up some new spark plugs, and pussy the car around town until i get my injectors.

Sound like a solid plan or should I keep my car down for another day?

(I did let the car idle for 10 minutes to adapt the new programming, and I have currently completed the TB reset)

Sounds like you have a vac. leak. The plugs would have nothing to do with the idle if you didn't have this problem before. I would go back over everything you did.

Because you are still running the tiny stock injectors on a tune for large ones. Why did you go with 440cc injectors and which ones did you go with?

yeah I can't imagine it'd be a vac leak, I've been driving the car around with stock programming and the GTRS complete solution kit installed. Only difference is that I have finally gotten the ecu flashed.

Would the new flash really be requesting more fuel at idle? Or so much more that the stock ones can't compensate?

ps. I went with the bosch 42 lb because it was part of the kit. Didn't opt for spending ~150 more for the 550cc ones as I have read that they don't really increase power/performance, and the 440's run fine on the new 550 file from revo

You'll probably have to turn the volume way up in order to hear the car... I left my door open

The new flash will be requesting less fuel since it is tuned for larger injectors, this means the ecu needs to add way more fuel because you have those tiny stock injectors in there. If you look at block 032 you will most likely see a nice lean reading for idle. The ecu can only add so much fuel and at the point it will most likely shut the car off like it is doing.

Yes you are right the 550's are not going to give you more power, but they just have a much better spray pattern for our 20v which is why they ended up going to those over the 440's. Bosch 440's are single spray and Genesis 550's are split spray.

Here is a little info from USRT and Scott pretty much knows the most about injectors.

    Bosch 440cc injectors
These Bosch fuel injectors are now obsolete but work acceptably in 4cyl 8v and Mk2/3 VR6 engines with a single intake valve per cylinder. Narrow-angle spray cone, atomizes upon impact with intake valve. These are not recommended for 1.8T, 16v, and other engines with multiple intake valves.
    Genesis 550cc injectors
The most advanced injector we offer, Genesis 550cc fire factory-correct dual spray cones with super-fast response and best atomizaton on the market today. Safe for up to 8bar rail pressure! Fuel rail spacers not required.

ah makes sense, thank's.. I wasn't even thinking of it like that... well, now that I don't have to put those bosch spark plugs in (due to them not even sending them) what spark plugs would you suggest from an autozone/advance auto place.. the NGK BKR6E? I live in an extremely cold climate when winter hits.

Re: let's talk spark plugs and revo

I had a slight pinging problem when I was using OE and BKR7E's so I went with the bosch Super F5DPOR. But I will most likely go BKR6E's this winter. Be sure to get the right pregap (-8)with the NGK BRK6E-8 or BKR7E-8. Not the -11 = .044" of pregap and the -8 = .032"

Re: let's talk spark plugs and revo

alright, I already got the ngk's, but also got off the phone with ecode. Turns out their bosch spark plugs were out of stock and just barely received them, so I should be getting mine monday.. with a free set, woot? Also the turbonetics mbc isn't used with their kit anymore, they use the forge.. which is backordered, and I will be getting that eventually.

as for my injectors.. fed ex tracking sucks ass (i hope) because my order has only moved from Michigan to Ohio in ~30 hours.. .last updated 4 am today, wtf.

Overall this whole BT experience has been pissing me off from the start.. I guess I'm losing my patience. But it should all be worth it once I get to floor it. (coming from stage 1----)
