so most probably my turbo is gone and i am looking for the cheapest way to replace/rebuild it. my mechanic found some rebuilt ones which cost around 500 bucks, and i found some on ebay motors which are at half of the price, and brand new like this one

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUDI-...mZ220269747343

again, i am totally new to cars and i just wonder if the quality of aftermarket turbos are reliable....and why is it so much cheaper than a rebuilt one?

thanks and i appreciate every input!

    Re: aftermkt turbo

It will probably fit, but that isn't really the issue. This turbo is not made by borg-warner (company that makes k03 (and k04)), rather it is some random Asia based company which sells knock-offs. A number of people have had issues with their turbo dying after several thousand miles. Do a search on here and Audiworld.com and you will see what I am saying.

Find a real one, or even better, have yours rebuilt by gpopshop. The only issue is it would require some downtime... Unless you could work out a core exchange of some sort where you sent yours back to them right after receiving (and installing) theirs.

    Re: aftermkt turbo

You could source a used one for maybe $150. It is just a little harder trying to source a k03s. Here, let me help you out.

Or you could call A&P. They usually have great prices.

That's when you explain to the customer that you don't do b/s work.
I've installed customer supplied parts numerous times. When they come back with a bigger problem in 2 months, we have to charge them again b/c they didn't listen, and we had to do the work twice.
We stopped installing customer supplied parts at that shop. The shop I work at now will, but our customer's supply good parts, like ones from 034 and techtonics.

    Re: aftermkt turbo

I would NEVER EVER buy a turb off ebay... I made that mistake buying one for my Civic 2Dr and it blew the next day... If you do but it make sure that it has a return police and everything... You may be better off buying from one of those ebay stores if you do go through with it....
