    Question DIY for SAI removal?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I want to rip all that shit out now that I'm running a tp.
Also if there are any more DIY's to remove all that other random shit on the turbo side that isn't needed would be nice...

If not, I vote martini rips his car apart and makes a tut.

    Re: DIY for SAI removal?

Just start unbolting everything you see related to the system on the exhaust side of the engine. Put a cap over the hole in the back of the head and have fun clearing the occasional CEL.

If you're keeping the N249 (I think that's it) you want to put a plug on the vacuum line that runs from that to the SAI solenoid in the back of the head.

I think its a worthwhile mod. I love working on my car without all that BS. I also love not seeing a CEL .

I wouldnt have to think twice, about getting rid of all that crap, but I really do not want to throw a CEL.

    Re: DIY for SAI removal?

You can a have an aftermarket company like Revo or APR to remove the code.

basically, if it used to be hooked up to my engine, but didn't serve a purpose in making power (or keeping it safe) --- its gone now.

my ONLY vac/boost connections now are for the EBC, BOV, Brake booster, and boost gauge. shit is SOOOO much cleaner in my engine bay now than it was (especially because of the lack of a motor bahahaha)

also makes diagnosing leaks easier, and I don't have all those shitty stock hoses that crack and crumble over time.. everything is high grade silicone or braided steel now (cept my a/c and fuel lines)

I don't have a DIY for you, and you won't find anything definitive on here - trust me, I looked.. but shawn has some info in his build thread, and in one called "so how important is all that metered air?" or something to that effect. Also, PM me if you want some more details, I'll help as best as I can.

your best bet is to sit down with some puzzle books and practice those ones where you trace the line through the maze of other lines and get to the other end lol. you'll be doing that A LOT, and probably 9 times with each one to make sure you got it right... get lots of silicone sealant, vacuum caps, tiny bolts, rubber plugs, small hose clamps, a good set of side-cutters, some good mechanics gloves, a 12 pack, and a lazy sunday to do it all.

and integrated engineering makes a thing to cap off the SAI connection on the back of your head.

Or you can do what I did. Sit down with the Bentley diagram and cross off stuff that is being removed and draw in new lines... etc.. This is my project once my car is re-tuned. That and a nice heat shield for my turbo intake...

eh, i dont have a bently so i did it the fun way -- i started color-coding things with a bunch of spare zip ties i had... then i started cutting/removing lines until i was left with what i have now.

next is the charcoal canister and all associated lines... I might just find something else to mount there though.... we'll see

    oooh oooh, here we go.

    http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2806326.phtml

It's for a b5 but I'm pretty sure it'll work, unless you can't comprehend things. Maybe when I do mine, I'll write up for the b6.. although from what I see so far, it's not really necessary when this one already exists.
