Has anybody tried cutting a small hole on the plastic skidplate?

Skidplate: a plastic cover thats underneth the car which shields your lower part engine from debree, unpaved roads, and other things.

I was thinking about cutting a small hole on the skidplate so that I can drain the oil easily instead of taking the whole darn thing off. I've seen it on the new BMW, they have skidplate but have small cut-out skidplate so that you can drain the oil and oil filter.

I was hoping if anybody did this?

^^u can no biggy, but in reality it is the truth that u do get better MPG and a cooler engine with it on, so modifying it, i have no idea what neg. or even pos. results it can have, but i'd say it is only a few screws and i'd rather keep it the way it is and spend the extra 5 min to take it off. again my $0.02 don't wanna be like negative, but just giving u my advice!

I would make a small cutout, and "rig it" so you can re-attach that cutout back to the skidplate....

I might do this tomorrow actually, lol

I've had a small section of mine cut out since I did the first oil change on my car after I bought it. It's fine.

you've got a make a big enough hole so that the oil has a clear shot.
and i screw the last few threads of the drain bolt with my fingers
so maybe a big enough hole for your fist.

I understand it can sometimes be a bitch to unscrew 6, 1/4-turn screws every 5000 miles, but seriously, isn't this a little ridiculous?

Just take the entire belly pan off when you change your oil. Its easier than making a 'hatch' that has the ability to come loose and fall off while driving.

This reminds me that I have to buy a new belly pan. Mine got shredded last winter. Where's the best source?

the best[cheapest] choice for the B5 guys was the W8 skitplate that ECS sells. only like $50 compared to the dealers OEM piece that is like $180

but im just not sure if the 2(B5 and B6 skidplates) are compatible. i have my old B5 skidplate in my parents shed that i've been neglecting trying out. think i'll get it out and do that in the next couple days and see

I added that to my last ECS order for my friend's B5. I'll stop by his house and compare it to my OE B6 bellypan since he still hasn't installed the new one.
