Need advice/tip for lower grill project

I am trying to get my car to where I want it, and thought it would be cool to replace the lower grills with RS4 mesh to match my hood grill. But my problem is that I can not come up with a way to make it stay. What I did was purchase a hot glue gun and got black glue sticks (because my car is black). Well, I could not find them in black in any of the stores I checked, so I ended up finding them on ebay. Damn ebay glue sticks run like crude oil. Dripping everywhere and was just sloppy. I was thinking that the viscocity is not up to par with other glue sticks found in Sears or places as such. It was an ebay product. I got fed up with those and just put the OEM grills back in.

But does anyone have any tips/advice on how I could go about making them stay in place? I was thinking the transparent glue sticks would show easily as the rest of the surrounding area would be black. Any input would be great. Thanks!

ive heard of people heating up a screw driver with a lighter to punch (very discreet) holes in the bumper to run zip ties through. something about the melting reinforces the holes i guess. maybe that would work.

I think it would be better to heat the driver, punch some small inserts (first match it with ur cutouts), then with a bit of flexing put the grill in there. Forget the zip ties.

I took the stock lower grills, dremeled the plastic fins out. then trimmed the rs4 look stuff to fit. It gives a nice finished edge looks alot better then just the metal to me.

I was thinking of going with Squarrl's technique at first, but then realised how much of the space outer trim of the OEM lower grills would be visible. I would preferr to the entire space filled with the RS4 mesh. And it is not metal mesh, it is LLtek ABS plastic. Caught a guy selling it on ebay 3 sheets all in tact. I actually have an entire sheet left if anyone wants it. It is 6.5"x18.5".

I talked to a freind whom said he could install it for me on Sunday, so I will see how that goes. Hopefully, he can make it stay. As for the drilling or making slots for the ridges, it snows where I live and in the winter the weather would rip it off and leave it on the side of the raod somewhere. That's the reason I wanted to go with the glue gun, bc I thought it can withstand the weather.

I will bump this after my freind helps me, to either show pics or to request any other options if he can not get it on. But I am sure he can.

LOL, just drill some tiny ass holes with a dremel, and then ziptie it in the back or where its not shown. I did this for my S4 bumper and planned on doing it with my A4 bumper when i had it.

Re: Need advice/tip for lower grill project

I am not shady. Just pay for shipping. It is enough for 2 lower side grills. I cut both for my lower side grills from one of the little sheets, that's why I have this one left over. But there is not enough left on the big sheet for the middle lower one.

So, you could use this sheet for the lower side grills and try and source out mesh for the middle longer strip.

I just drilled a couple holes and zip-tied them in there from the top. Ghetto, I know, but they look fine unless you get unreasonably close up to them.

On an unrelated note, I always wonder why people bother to blur out license plate numbers when they post online... I know they say 'security/privacy' issues and such, which I understandable, but then again how many hundreds of people can just as easily see your license plate when you have your car out on the road/parked at a store?
