    V-Maxx Coilovers For Under $650

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I received an email from Stratmosphere and they're going to begin carrying V-Maxx coilovers to retail for under $650. I'm not sure how good they are, but this is super cheap for a new set of CO's...

Couple of my friends have them on their B5s and they love them. I have never rode in either of their cars though but they don't bounce up and down the street when I see them driving.

I've ridden in a couple Mk4's and a 1.8t passat. They all rode decent, but when you slam the hell out of them they DO ride like crap. The warrenty is great though.

I have no experience with them, but considered them when I had my mk4. I heard great things about them and bad things about them, like you would with any product. I went with Vogtland and am very happy with them.

Wow, what a great deal. For people thinking about just doing springs/shocks (like myself) this adds another affordable option.

it really depends how low you are going on v-maxx's.
I had my fronts all the way down and my rears about 3/4 of the way down and they were pretty bouncy. They don't bounce as much if you have a less drastic drop.

Well, do you have pics of your car with the coilovers all the way down. That sounds like your extremely low. I want some tuck, but not at a large cost of ride quality.

Well, by the looks of these pics, which I got from the V-Maxx UK site. They look better than the average coilovers. They have dual spring set-up like KW and Bilstein. Here are the specs from the site

    On car Height Adjustment
    High quality components
Galvanized Steel struts and gas shocks for durability
    Top Quality, 2 year Warranty
    TÃœV approval across all kits

The on car adjustability grabs my attention. Don't know if you can adjust the damper though. Are most coilovers steel or aluminum?

I do not belive so, i think there was some shots where his car was even lower. But it gets REALLY bouncy when you are that low.

one more thing, Stratmosphere usually only stocks high quality products so this probably says something positive in itself. along with the fact that V-Maxx has been around in europe for quite a while, they probably make a solid product.

If it is from Europe and considering very low dollar, then it is a very good price. If our economy improves, we may see some better prices.

Sounds good to me. Since I have no money at the moment, September sounds like a good time to finally get ride of my wheel gap.

I saw these at Ultimate Dubs in March (? Feb?) in the UK. A shop had these, KWs, and some other brand that I can't remember, on individual displays next to each other. Comparing them, you can see some differences in quality, but not drastic. And for the price, they are definitely a great deal. On top of that, I regularly see them for around $400-500 for MK4 VWs and B5s. I just need to find a good deal for my A4. Also, TUV approval is more difficult then DOT, and the warranty does kick ass.

    i put a set on a b5 a4 and they were horrible
once seeing the build quality, it was obvious why they were so cheap
the ride was reminiscent of a 1981 rabbit with 250k on the clock and stock dampers
they were on the car for less than 48hrs before we took them off to return them to strat (and had to pay $100+ restocking fee)
my advice: don't waste your time or money

Did you have the first version with just the progressive springs?

Or did you have the newer dual spring set-up?

It's gunna be like this with ANY product. You have the people that love the product and stand by it, and you have people that did not have a such a good expierence.

I understand that too, but there could be a correlation with the spring set-up, I read some complaints over on Audiworld, and it seems to be the set-up with the progressive springs. Just wanna confirm that.
