    Testpipe issue HELP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I spent almost an entire day wrestling with my ebay test pipe from Velocity Motoring. Great looking product. The job turned into a real PITA. Here is the problem after all is said and done:

The angles at the end of the testpipe and the top of the down pipe are not the same. If I were to guess I would say they were off by more than 25 deg.
The length looks good. I bought the car used but the exhaust looks factory. Have there been any issues that anyone knows of?

BTW I also have a O2 sensor hook up on the downpipe. the test pipe came with 2 O2 sensor hookups also. Something is fishy.

    Re: Testpipe issue HELP

    ?

your stock cat should have 2 allowances for O2 censors, 1 before the filter and one after to measure the difference in the gas.

i would advise taking out the DP and cat, then attaching the TP to the DP outside of the car, then installing it as a unit.

    Re: Testpipe issue HELP

It will not fit throught the tunnel, tried tried and tried every which way. Once it is together in the tunned it will not bolt up to the turbo due to the bad angle and the down pipe is at the wrong angle to line up with the rest of the exhaust. I do have a 02 sensor plug on the DP, and only one on the original Cat. I hade to plug the one on the DP so that I could use the two on the new test pipe. I can't get the downpipe fixed because the local shops won't fix it without a Cat.

Yeah I've got a guy here that will run a high flow cat, with a magnaflow resonator and magnaflow dual chrome tipped exhaust for undar $400. I may have to try and return the test pipe.

im not trying to sound like a smart ass, but are you putting it in the right way? you might have gotten it flipped around. maybe that third o2 sensor was for a wideband?

    Re: Testpipe issue HELP

Is anyone elses exhaust clamped together after the flxible part of the downpipe. It is starting to look like the previous owner had the cat replaced but they may have fabricated the downpipe to fit whatever cat they had on the shelves. That would explain why one of my O2's is on my DP not both on the cat. I'm just gonna drop $400 and have an entire new exhaust installed and beg velocity motoring to take back one not so shiney anymore testpipe.

$400 for a full exhaust is a good deal. Maybe too good of a deal including HFC. I'd go for it.

    Re: Testpipe issue HELP

My eBay testpipe is a little off on the angle at the rear, but no more than 5*

It's supposed to have two bungs in it. Your DP is A/M if it has a bung in it, I don't think the 99's changed anything about that.

    Here's mine installed.

    Re: Testpipe issue HELP

That confirms it. I'll knock off the nearest bank on the way to the muffler shop. I'll try to get the guy to set it up like stock so I can swap in the testpipe if I still want to.
