bad control arms = vibration at speed??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
when im on the highway, anywhere around 50-65mph (doesnt vibrate at 80) i feel a slight but very annoying vibration in my feet and steering wheel. before i go and get my tires rebalanced i was wondering if worn control arms could be the problem instead. the two upper driver's side ball joints have some play and allow the wheel to wobble a bit when jacked up.

let me know what u got to say

im guessing it is unbalanced wheels that are the problem. plus, balancing them will be a cheaper way to check if it is the problem than new control arms.

Re: bad control arms = vibration at speed??

Yes, control arms will cause intermittant or constant vibration at those speeds... I drove for about 1 1/2 years on bad CA's and it was so freaking annoying... Getting new tires helped it for a bit but since I didn't want those to wear I changed the CA's... Now it is like new!

Could certainly be caused by control arms. Worn bushings or ball joints will allow for excessive play and movement. Translate into vibrations, uneven tire wear, and the obvious noises.

What is the difference between B5 S4 kits and the cheaper kits for B5 A4?
