why do you have a 3 inch exhaust on a stock car? the tune wouldnt have anything to do with the size of the exhaust.

edit: also speedtuning is worth looking into, im very happy with mine.

Nope these aren't like the wrx where they have a million stages.
Its aregular chip anything you add on just helps out.
3" exhaust on a puny k03 is overkill unless you are going stage 3 and if you are then a chip is a waste of money.
Homebrew PES Powered Stage 3 A4 1.8TQM It can be yours for only $5k PM for details

    I have a JUSTINTERCOOLER 27 X 6 X 2.75 WITH 2.5" inlet / outlet (Brand New in Box) FMIC for Sale $90

3" is a bit of overkill, unless you're trying to squeeze everything you can out of the little guy. That being said, 3/4 of my exhaust is 3".

Unitronic Stage 1+(as well as other Stage 1+ or Stage 2) is designed for engines with High Flow Cats or testpipes and modified intakes. Call 'em up and talk to a representative.
I'm rollin the Uni Stg1+ and have been very happy so far.

    Re: chip/reflash shopping

The exhaust has nothing to do with the chip. The exhaust is a mod in itself sovereign. Stock exhaust is 2.25". Most aftermarket cat back exhausts are 2.5". But there are others such as Milltek that are 2.75". People would recommend a 2.5" for stock turbo, chipped/flashed, and smaller turbo upgrades. Then people would recommend 2.75"-3" to not have restriction of the exhaust gases and yield more hp. You don't need a 3" exhaust till you eneter BT territory. I would recommend a 2.5".

Since when? I measured my stock downpipe @ 2.1" on the outside.
My Testpipe and downpipe are 2.5" It fits very nicely and then it goes into 3". 3" is what I had, and I used it.

    Re: chip/reflash shopping

yeah i'm aware that the 3 inch exhaust is a little much, but what ever. i don't see the need to upgrade exhaust every step of the way with the turbos so i went big first and staying there. my plans are to have the gt2871r kit and supporting mods in the future but would like to enjoy a little more power now without spending so much money right now. and with that said what is the better of all the options out there for like a stage 1 ecu that will be good to use on the gt2871r.

my real concern was boost creep with the 3 inch exhaust i dont want to over heat my engine or cause damage to my turbo( but a damaged turbo means it needs replace ;)

    Re: chip/reflash shopping

boost creep doesn't have anything to do with your downpipe size. At least not to my understanding.

If anything a less restrictive exhaust would reduce engine temps. Provided you're not going WOT immediately before opening the hood.
