    More Noob questions

Sorry, this is my first Audi and you guys seem to speak a whole different language from me. I need help identifying my particular model. I bought a CPO 2004 A4 1.8L Quattro Turbo, but aside from that I don't know the particulars about my car. I don't have photographs, yet.

I want to know if it is a Sline or has the USP package. It doesn't have the S-Line badge but from what I've been reading, it seems as though that's what I have. It has the blades on the sides of the car, the rear spoiler and the rims, it also seems to sit much lower than some of the A4's I've seen. I know it could not have been modded, since it is a CPO. Anyway, I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Ah, thanks! Wait been doing some more reading and it appears that there were S-Line 2004 A4's, that would be the B6, right? Or is that a European-only designation? Is the USP the US equivalent?

You mean HIDs, yes, I have HIDs. I didn't notice DRL's though, does the B6 have DRL's?

I see, but my concern is the more horsepower (190, I think it was) on the S-Line motor. I maybe misreading something.

No, S Line came from Europe. They called it USP here in USA while S Line was identical to it in other parts of the World. And starting 2005.5, S line came to USA and now we can see it on b7's. It doesnt have more powerful engine.

    Re: More Noob questions

you can get a flash from GIAC, REVO or APR coupled with bigger injectors to give you approximately 205-235 chp

i have APR and am very happy with it, but consider your long term goals, REVO flashes are cheaper if you have their stage II flash then decide to go Big Turbo.

if you think your ultimate goal is BT, i wouldnt waste any money on anything but supporting mods (clutch, FMIC, suspension, brakes, exhaust) then throw on the BT

Huh? Sorry I don't get it. Anyway, I talk to 2bennett which can do the flash which is not too far away from where I live. He quoted me 499 for the program, $75 for labor. He also said that since I am still under the CPO warranty he recommends the 149 double programming to return the car into "stock" mode whenever it is necessary. What do you guys think?

I also called Griffin Motorwerkes for the Revo, and he's lightly higher, 199 for the switch to stock, 499 for the flash, 115 for the labor.

    Re: More Noob questions

what program does he use??? APR, GIAC or REVO? the $75 is a rip off, labor is included with the flash... if you upgrade later, they may just charge you one hour labor which is fair, but my flash for the 1+ program was $500 + tax

also dont even waste ur money on the stock program, or stage 1, get the bigger injectors, PM manguyen, he gets the best OEM tt 225 386cc injectors for much cheaper than anyone else, i got mine from him in two days... once u have the extra power, you will never switch back and its unlikely the dealer will be looking for the program, its hidden anyway, they will never know... i had mine in for service several times, lowered, brakes, clutch, FMIC, apr 1+ and they never asked or cared

    Re: More Noob questions

anyone who charges you labor is pocketing that money.. i pulled in, popped my hood, walked down the street, ate lunch, came back and installed my own injectors with instructions from www.goapr.com in their parking lot (saving $100 in labor) then their guy pulled it inside, hooked it up, fifteen minutes later he pulled it back around, tossed me the keys and said lets go for a ride, see what u think.... pegged it out at 23 lbs boost, drove great, went back and paid him my $500 + tax, total around $546 i think...

Thanks for the advice. Supposedly with 2Bennett it was with APR. It did sound a bit much to connect a connector to the OBD2 connector and flash a program to my ECU. Only problem with the injectors, I would have to take them out and install, right? Is it easy to do?

just read the instructions before, look at the stuff in the engine, make sure u are comfy with it and know where all the stuff is at, kind of do a walkthrough while reading the instructions, its a very easy DIY, way overrated... one of my first... and look what ive done since then....... i would keep a few extra rags the bleed the fuel and a extend a magnet thingy in case u drop on of the fuel injector clips... it took me about 20 minutes.. i could do it now in 10 or less

edit: FYI, i would print them off and bring it with you

    Re: More Noob questions

Listen to PapaChristou, he is exactly right. If I was in your shoes I would go:

    GIAC Big Injector File
    Forge 007 Diverter Valve
    FMIC
    Techtonics Exhaust
    Coilovers + Rear sway

You'd have a pretty nice ride right there, unless of course you really want this thing to be fast. Then I would skip the Stage 1/1+ and start piecing together a Big Turbo kit. That will save you from wasting $500 on the initial flash. Good luck!

*EDIT* The only reason I recommended GIAC was because I've heard their software pulls a bit harder. I personally have APR 1+ and it's OK but with the Tiptronic it's annoying sometimes in 'D' or 'S'. Of course, you might have the same issues with GIAC but either way you can't go wrong.
*EDIT* I just realized you probably don't have a tip, so forget what I said :-)

Thanks guys for the info. I don't really want this to be super fast, I just feel that it is a bit underpowered. I'm over my "racing" phase, when I sold the MR2 and the Celica 5 years ago. But I like to get a little spirited on my 60-mile trek to work everyday.

If that's the case, then that setup should be adequate. And if you do get tired of it at least you'll have all the supporting mods you need to swap in a K04.

Have you read the FAQ's in the Tech section? Lots of great info in there. For example, THIS LINK takes you to the "whats a K04?" thread.
