finally looking to get a new car ever since i totaled my a4. budget is around 20k. i was goin to purchase a brand new VW GTI but i decided i rather get a used car for a little while because the economy is pretty wack and gas prices are pretty high.

any suggestions for what i should get that is a two door and pretty quick.

    current cars im lookin at
330 ci (not many on craigslist)

My choice would be BMW 3 series... as soon as I can ditch my A4, like in the next few weeks if I'm lucky, I'm getting an e36 m3... If you're patient you can pick up a clean one for like 12k-14k... which would leave plenty of money in your 20k budget to do some mods....

My opinion as you are used to an Audi, get another. Don't go to a second class Audi called VW.

    current cars im lookin at
330 ci (not many on craigslist) To many out there, not rare or special
mini cooper type s Overpriced in my opinion and is you not 5"1 properly to small. Not even sure is a beer case fits in the trunk
    or
B6 A4 1.8t More like it, but get a real color not silver or gray.

For 20 KUSD you will have quite a selection.

I have seen nice E46 M3's in the mid 20's...
Nicely Modded 1.8T A4 would be nice
I have also seen nice B7 A4's around the low 20's, and you could have some warranty as well.

Glad I got you guys going on the gray, just saying it because I got red.
By the way for the price of a R32 I get a B6 S4, M5 or even some S6. R32 is not cheap.

Of course, all of the above probably wouldn't get better gas mileage than the R32.

BAM! There you have it and you can run circles around most the Audis on here

You will rarely find an e46 or e90 330ci for under 20k right now unless its got over 100k and I dont know what BMW's are like over 100k. Its probably the funest car you drive that you have listed and will also beat a 350Z and run circles around most Audis on here sorry guys but you know I still love yah!

R32 is an awesome car to drive but you wont find one under 20k either. They are also a maintenance pit after 80k or so. Plus that thing is so fun to drive you will never save gas.

I got jacked on my 325i. Spur of the moment impulse buy and didnt research it. I got it for about $26k just last August which was KBB at the time and it only had 25k miles on it.

    Re: looking for some advice.

do some research on what colossal POS"s the new bmw's are. you tihnk audi's break a lot? we got NOTHING on munich. i have a coworker with a 330 sedan that's had abotu 15 grand worth of warranty work in about the same mileage. shite.

vw's doing a cheap lease on the gti. that's what i'd do. in 5 years we're all going to be driving electric cars anyway. not a good time to invest heavily in technology that's about to be replaced.

don't believe me? gas just hit 14$ a gallon in the uk.

Meh... just dont keep it for to long or its gonna be a money pit. Then if you catch the mod bug again (which in fact you will) your gonna drop more money into trying to make it faster.

To the guys baggin' on BMW's its all opinionated. OP never mentioned an e90 and we all know compared to the e46 its not any better of a car. My BMW has been more reliable than my B6 Avant. The only thing Audi has on BMW is interior design and the R8 I still love Audis a ton and eventually will be back. Just having too much fun in a BMW right now though

I think you'll be fine. Audis really dont have major problems till about 120k or more just like any car. Only thing is, at that time your looking at more to maintain the Audi's since they are AWD.

Only thing you really need to worry about are CP's. Just get the latest revision and keep your existing ones as spares in the trunk. Dont forget that VW dealerships are a bit cheaper.

Congrats on getting a B6. Just make sure to do the timing belt soon. I'm planning on doing mine soon. And like Marlon mentioned pick up spare CP's as they tend to fail in they aren't the "R" revision.
