    Alignment issue or camber adjustment??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i have a 2000 s4 and recently installed H&R sport springs. I am very happy with the ride, but i have one problem. i have a noticeable bit of negative camber in the front. i had this problem with an old car of mine after lowering, which required a camber adjustment kit. I have been told i can have t adjusted at any alignment shop. Any input on this problem would be great, being that i ran through 2 sets of front tires on my old ride before i figured out the problem. thanks a lot guys.

    ^ What he said.

Take it to alignment shop FIRST then go from there.

Re: Alignment issue or camber adjustment??

You can't adjust the front camber with the stock control arms. You can slide the subframe from side to side to even out the camber, but that is it for the front.

You need KMAC eccentric camber bolts, or CPP adjustable control arms if you want to change the camber. CPP is out of business, so you can only find them used.

Tie rods only allow you to adjust toe, not camber.

Re: Alignment issue or camber adjustment??

There are some KMAC bushings available in the for sale section, otherwise you have to order them from MAC directly. I believe there are also some CPP front upper control arms in the for sale section.

Your camber shouldn't be that bad unless you are extremely lowered. My car is lowered to the point that I can fit two fingers between the fender and the tire and my camber is fine.

i put the sport srings and i can see the neg camber. it s noticeable. i am not sure if it is really affecting the way the car rides/drives. u just dont want the tires to wear fast.

anyone ever use anything like this to fix the camber? I just got alignment and they said they couldn't adjust the front camber and I need to get camber bolts. They told me its aligned but my tires are going to wear unevenly.

Re: Alignment issue or camber adjustment??

The biggest tire killer on our cars is bad toe adjustment. We have ours aligned to 0 or as close to as possible, rotate every oil change and get decent tire life. Both cars are lowered on coils and have probably about -1.5 camber. But evenly adjusted side to side. Without adjustable control arms this is pretty much the best you can hope / prepare for. I say this without any experience or reported success using camber kits for our cars.

I want to bring this thread back to life for these adjustable arms linked by zawzarf.

I find myself going back to look at these again and again...I wonder if anybody has tried them. The picture doesn't match our arm style, but they say they will give +/- 0.5 degrees of camber adjust-ability, which is just enough I think to help with tire rub on lowered cars. Only 2 arms - upper inners - but not bad @ $115/pair.

I rub slightly on my passenger front on the inside of my tire - 8x18 et 35 w/ 225 40r18 Pirellis. These may be a good pickup before ruining another set of tires...

^----- I see what you did there.

Get a set of sterns or 034 adjustable UCA's. I think also cpt out of the Chicago area makes some. All the choices are more expensive but well worth it in quality.

Not sure I'd trust a $115 set of adjustable UCA's.
