Simple. Insert screwdriver. Lift tab. Remove clamp. Be sure to thank Martini for the pic!!

I use zip ties all the time for small hoses. Usually put two on.

    Re: DV one-time clamps

Anything vac line shouldnt need a clamp or ziptie at all. I run 27psi on my 3071R without any clamps on my vac lines and havent had one blow off yet

    Re: DV one-time clamps

Just twist out the Vac line with the stock clamp on and twist it back in again, simple and not need to use new clamp and zip tight.

It should'nt take longer than 10 mins to kill the stock clamp, otherwise your are to sisy for mechanic works!!!

    Re: DV one-time clamps

I used screw-down clamps the last time I swapped my DV. Worked great.

    Re: DV one-time clamps

I had such a hard time trying to get those clamps off that I gave up for the day.... that was like 2 weeks ago haha.

I went out and bought a dremel, I figure I'll give it another go today since it shouldn't be too bad out. I'll update with results.

    Re: DV one-time clamps

One thing unique about turbo motors is that many of the vacuum lines are also subjected to boost pressure. That is why the 1.8T has all those damn check valves. Consequently I recommend using zip ties on all the connections. Will they blow off if you don’t? Probably not, but why take the chance. You know that if one ever does blow off it will be at 2:00am when you are flailing the shit out of your car on some deserted back road and you will have left your tools at home and your flashlight batteries will be dead.

    Cheers!

    Re: DV one-time clamps

Make sure you clamp it back on good with a new clamp, maybe 2 or 1 and a ziptie. When I got flashed and they changed my DV idk how they clamped the hoses back on but I'm guessing 1 of them popped back off cuz I have a loud hissing in boost now, and I've yet to bring the car back in. I dont have a boost guage but there's def. a loss of power. Anyway, just make sure you clamp the hose back on TIGHT.

Before you decide to use either zip ties or clamps, just make sure what kind of pressure the joint is working for, whether is +ve pressure or -ve pressure.

For +ve pressure like charge pipes, the pipe will be blow up and leaks due to extra pressure, clamps is a must.

For -ve pressure, like vac line, it will only suck harder and tighter, zip ties will be fine.

Do things right with clear concept.

The oem one-time clamps are the WORST!! I hate them with a passion. Slowly replacing as I go throughout the motor.
