Question new motor ko4 with really bad stuttering

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
2000 Audi a4 replaced motor this week along with mtm stage 3 chip, new ko4 had really bad stuttering under boost but not normal driving. I put ti on my friends code reader and had two codes. The first code was #2 cylinder misfire and the second code was secondary air injection. I figured it was a bad coil so replaced today and nothing changed. Have read a few threads leads to believe it might be a icm....but a few threads are saying the 2000 model atw does not have a icm..any possible help with this would be greatly appreciated
    Thank You!!!

With misfires, coil packs and spark plugs (gapping/wear/material/design/brand/etc) tend to be the culprit. As for your second code, you will have to wait for the experts to cimmey in.

Re: new motor ko4 with really bad stuttering

Once again, I am no expert but you should go with copper plug. Bosch ones are always pre-gapped so you don't have to worry about that. But platinum plugs are a big no no. More expensive does not always mean better. Bosch f6dtc seems to be the favored plug amongst the big turbo guys.

Re: new motor ko4 with really bad stuttering

Cool. I was actually going to go with the OEM plugs when the time came, but I might now reconsider. I read that the Bosch plugs can run to 25k before changing them while others such as NGK need to be changed every 10-15k.

But for the OP, I have no idea. Like I said, I am no expert. But people whom get misfires has that happen in 1,2,3 or all cylinders.

Re: new motor ko4 with really bad stuttering

hey guys....put in ngk plugs and this damn thing is still falling on it's face stuttering when I mash down on it!! It drives smooth as silk under no real boost to speak of.Funy thing is at times when it's not under a big load I can get high boost and it will take off running like crazy!!!!! BTW when I pulled the new Plat. plugs 2 replace then....they looked like they were almost rusted looking in color but I run 93 oct gas with 2 cans of oct. boost....thought that might b what was causing the color....and no the Bosh plat plugs were NOT gapped right.3 were .34 and 1 was .35 Any ideas here??? could this be the imc with the missfire only on #2 cylinder? Any help I would REALLY appreciate

Re: new motor ko4 with really bad stuttering

    Step 1 - Clear codes
Step 2 - change coil pack from #2 to another
    Step 3 - Run car
Step 4 - Check codes again
    Step 5 - Report back

I know someone had a similar issue and his TIP (boost hose off the turbo) was collapsing causing the car to buck and studder. something to consider.
