    TIP Subforum

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm expanding the conversation about the Tip Club originiated by FrimmelNoJerz from the B5 S4 Chatterbox to here. We figure if the station wagons can get their own forum, us TIP owners ought to be entitled to one as well. It's been proposed as just a general TIP section, similar to the Avant section, where TIP owners from all makes and models could post, but feel free to propose any other ideas/suggestoins.

Let's have a separate forum for manual quattro cars, manual fwd cars, tip quattro, and tip fwd while we're at it. Also, a 35% tint forum, a 20% tint forum, a limo tint forum, and of course... a separate forum for each and every brand of chip you can get for an audi!

Those are dangerously wading into the realm of ideas JP, you don't want to inadvertently create a subchannel in this forum between simple Feedback and Ideas.

Well JP, that would require you posting a separate post asking for those section, plus apparantly 51% of those who would use that forum asking for it.

Why don't you just get out of this thread since you clearly have nothing positive to say towards it.

Plus a good reason to have a tip section is so we can ask questions without having twice as many people come in and say how tips suck. Kinda like how you are coming in here ruining this thread.

Maybe a "Feedback/ Help" section on how to drive a manual. Or perhaps a Sub-Forum on how not to be sensitive about people joking with you about what kind of transmission is in your car........

    Re: TIP Subforum

So, are the Avant owners sensitive about driving Avants because they have their own section?? Why does wanting a TIP forum to share information about TIPs and TIP tuning make us sensitive??? If we were really sensitive about it, don't you think we'd lay low and fly under the radar instead of trying to start a TIP Club and getting our own forum. That's putting ourselves out there even more for criticism and jokes so seems like a strange definiton of "being sensitive" to me.

I don't have an Avant, so I don't read forums that don't necessarily apply to me. A little "Tip" that you and your "manual" friends that felt the need to chime in may want to consider. And please don't take that as being "sensitive". Read any forum you want and bash Tips all you'd like....it's a little cliche and tiresome, but whatever gets you thru the work day.

    Re: TIP Subforum

Ok, if you guys get a "TIP" forum, i want a Cold Weather Package forum..no wait! a Premium Package forum (sounds exclusive). You know this sub-forum thing sounds great. I mean why stop w/ Model Forums? Too broad to cover such complex automobiles. We should, as a community really try and touch ever aspect of these fines cars. What happens when someone has a question about the "Heated, leather-wrapped 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel"? Why shouldnt they be able to go to the Heated, leather-wrapped 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel Forum? One could argue the functionality of a steering wheel this complex (almost as complex as an Automatic transmission) cant be fully exploited without proper discussion and idea sharing. I see the light..

See, the problem here, is that you guys are asking for a Tiptronic Forum at a bad time. The GCC'ers are already up in arms about us having too many subforums in the OT section. So, don't take it personal.

Nope, just explaining the reason for all the jokes and chatter from other members.

No more new forums will be added until after our switch to a bigger, better, new server later this year.

I have a car w/ an auto trans, i went to one of the other forums, did some quick reading, and now i can fully utilize the letters P N D R. I was lost before i got all that info. I cant believe you guys are judging like that. You know how confusing all those letters are? I still want a "Heated, leather-wrapped 4-spoke multi-function steering wheel Forum". I bet there are others with the same steering wheel, and we could bond, have a meet.

Ya know immature responses like this only serve to further justify why TIP drivers want their own forum. The six speed crowd cannot get enough of bashing the TIP Audi.

I for one am tired of it and since we cannot get a moderator to advocate this on our behalf I for one want to step up again and say "GIVE US OUR OWN FORUM, PLEASE"

To make cracks about PNDR is simply wrong, and part of the reason that TIP owner want their own forum is because the TIP is a MUCH more complex transmission that a six speed and there is little to no support in the open forum for solving the problems, or providing answers for the TIP community. Our questions usally get 'washed out by cheap annoying cracks and our perfomance needs are rarely ever taken seriously which is probably a good part of the aswer why perfomance enhancements are lacking for us and six speed drivers keep moving ahead .

I know of some Porsche communities dedicated completely to Automatic and TIP tuning that have caused developments in the same line of Porsches that would drive a line of shame around a Porsche 6 Speed (928, 996, 968, etc.).

So sorry to see this kind of response for what many of us feel is a legitamate and furthermore much needed forum.

    THANK YOU.

    Re: TIP Subforum

The only people that can answer TIP related questions are other TIP owners and they wouldn't be giving you any different information if you had your own sub-forum. It is 100% completely pointless to create yet another sub-forum. If you don't like people making fun of you for getting an automatic car I have 3 simple things for you to do to alleviate the problem:

    1. Ignore the flaming posts
    2. Add the flamers to your block list
    3. Get a new car that isn't automatic

I not so suprised that six speed owners object to TIP Owners having their own forum to communicate. But the quoted text above gives the stongest arguement as to why it makes sense to create the TIP Forum.

First- "If you don't like people making fun of you for getting an automatic car..." I specifically wanted a TIP in my S4- not a Six Speed (I only do Six Speeds in Porsche)

Second- "flaming posts"- because, we drive a TIP

Third- "Flamers that are not TIP drivers that wash out content driven around TIP dialogue

Fourth- "The only people that can answer TIP related questions are other TIP owners " (you said it youself).

Fifth- I believe TIPs outnumber Six Speed Production and it continues to remain stagnent in of performance deveploments, a forum where that dialog can be focused without TIP bashing flamers is fair if we don't want trolls taking our serious issues to the "Get a new car that isn't automatic" immature nonsense catagory.

    Re: TIP Subforum

Clearly you missed my point... the same tip owners who would post in your threads in the proper forum... would post in your threads in the sub-forum. You don't need a sub-forum to get this information out of them.

if you don't like people making fun of you, block their username's. it's extremely simple

    Re: TIP Subforum

    Heres how i see it:

    1. A lot of TIP owners (on this board) aren't performance oriented. Although i can't really say for the S4 crowd, I dont read those forums, but I haven't seen a stage 3+ Tip S4s from anyone (yet) (same for A4's). So then because there are also two different platforms, there needs to be a TIP A4 and a TIP S4 subforums, which if you cant already tell, one (or both) will be pretty useless.

    2. If you get this own sub forums of yours, it wont be any different than the regular forum, i doubt this forum will only be TIP related (regarding things only a TIP car can mod) threads, and even if it is, what kind of thread is only tip related? "what shift knob can i use?"??

I already know it'll just be just a bunch of same old questions like what kit should i get etc etc, HID for my car? Rims? which the main forum can answer. In all just completely redundant.
