Question Lowering highway revs A4 1.8T

    Hello,

I recently bought a very nice -98 A4 1.8Ts Quattro with just 60000 miles on the clock. It is most likely already tuned somewhat, but I'm planning to to give it even more HP over time.

However, I feel that the gearbox is not suited for the engine, it revs very high even at moderate highway speeds. I was thinking to replace the gear box with a 6-speed of some sort, but many say this is a stupid mod that should not be done.

What are my options, if any?

    Best Regards
