Battery coding

Hello.. I have the original VARTA 8K0 915 105F and it’s in my 2013 A4 but it won’t hold a charge thus it’s time to replace. I’ve been searching everywhere for a like for like replacement with same battery as Lead Acid but no luck and I need to use the car this week so this is what I did. I found a DieHard that fits and dropped into same location in the trunk my original battery was:
VARTA
850cca
110amp/hr
BEM coded as: VA01C1015F04Z

So after installation of the new DieHard battery I went into VCDS under the following protocol
Engine module > CAN Gateway > Battery registeration.. I didn’t see a three letter code for DieHard so I used VAO and put in the 10 digit s/n of the new battery and selected test and it was successful so I selected “save”

Question is did I do this correctly and will I overcharge the new battery and/or overload my alternator? Or does my charging system now see a new battery, I went into measuring blocks 18-20 and the values seemed to show normal healthy battery values . Just looking for confirmation from you experts that have had to code in a new battery.. thanks

This has been discussed and answered here many times. In your case, you need to set the "Part Number" field to match the correct capacity (Ah) & type (converntional vs AGM) of starter battery that replaced the original 8K0915105F. H9 lead-acid starter batteries should not be that hard to find; for example: Duralast at AutoZone: https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...dlg/820339_0_0
Anyway, we need more info about the Diehard battery you put in your A4 to offer more advice. --g

Thanks I didn’t have any access to that Duralast battery you are referencing.. at least without Autozone having to order it which I didn’t have the time. I didn’t get to the battery fields for inputting the replacement battery info into VCDS.. here is the info on the H8-AGM I went with

Original is p/n 8K0915105F, an H9 wet flood. You installed an H8 AGM. So you need to fix the p/n in the adaptation value. MY13 should be able to take p/n 000915105CE. 4F0915105E should also work. ...105CE would be followed by one space. ...105E would be followed by two spaces.

Thanks for this help I will let you know if my edits will reset my flooded H9 to Glass Mat H8
