I am currently running a 245/35/19 and I find them too thin and too stretched. What would be a good size tire to run that won't need a stretch and has a decent sidewall to defeat the terrible potholes in Montreal Lol [headbang].
I was recommended 265/35/19? or should i go with a 40 profile? or is that too large for that size?
The wheels are Avant garde m310 19x9.5" and im on adjustable coil overs so i dont think rubbing will be an issue.

You won't want to change the profile size, unless you want to change the speedometer as well. The profile on a 265/35 will be slightly larger than the profile on the 245/35 but not enough to throw anything out of whack. I think a 245/35 is perfect for 9.5" wheel but that's just personal preference, nothing wrong with running a 265/35
Remember, the "35" is the aspect ratio and is a percentage of the first number. So a 265/35 will have a thicker sidewall than a 245/35 (35% of 265mm is > 35% of 245mm; 66.25mm to 61.25mm respectively). I would not worry too much about speedo because you should be able to VAGCOM the tire size into the ECU to allow for proper speedo reading. Rubbing on wider tire would be my first concern. The 265 will be 20 mm wider than the 245. All things being equal, you will gain 10 mm inside and 10 mm outside. before buying, check clearance on both to ensure your not going to interfere.

I have a 255/35 tire on my A6 which is a big car and I feel that the sidewall is plenty big. I think a 40 side wall on a 265 my be overkill but that is just my opinion.

Im running 245/40/19. A bit more side wall bc 35 you could feel everything
A lot of it will depend on the offset of the wheel you are running. You may have room on the outside (from tire to fender), but you may not have the additional space on the inside (tire to suspension).Quote:
