Hey guys.... new guy here.... drive a '14 A6 TDI (and a '14 Touareg TDI - no relation)
I've poked around the forum a little and didn't see many TDI mentions... there's some here and there.....
Just wondering if there's many of you oil burners around here, or if we have some dedicated areas\posts already going for us sparkless folk.

Few of us. I have a build thread (https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/900600-A6-TDI-Build-(picture-heavy)) that is slow, and while i have a couple updates, I will be doing more in the next month once I'm back from a road trip I am prepping my RS for.

A lot of TDI movement is in FB groups now.

Yes, I'm quickly read through your thread.... I'm not a FB guy, so I haven't bothered to go there.....
I was going to start hounding you for EGT logs and stuff on your build, but I haven't gotten to it yet. [;)]

The highest I recall seeing my EGTs go was maybe 800 C (~1470 F). Generally I'm not even close to that and say less than ~600 C (< 1100 F). But also since doing the DPF delete, I've lost one of my EGT sensors (reads -40) so I only have one to rely on.

The only EGT that I'd care about is #1 which unless you're running a really crappy tune, you should still have. (and hopefully rely on)
I saw you talking about IATs too, so I'll have to log the OEM setup to see how bad it is.....
What's your Lambda like with the tune?

I still pop in occasionally. Audi bought back my A6 TDI in 2022. Even at 147k miles it was still a torque monster.

Awesome... hope I get to keep mine that long as well....

Haven't looked since I got the Malone some years ago. Can log again over this weekend.

I did a quick log last night on my commute home on the Touareg.... had intended to do a similar one with the A6 just to compare the stock CNRB with the CPNB.... never got a chance to.
Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I can take the A6 for a rip.

Here's a short sample of what I'm seeing on my OEM setups.... not a lot of data as I did these on my commutes to and from work, in traffic.

Well, there's something I wasn't expecting to see.... the Touareg's dual SMIC setup appears to be cooling better than the A6's FMIC. [eek]
Even though the Touareg pull was done in warmer ambient temps, and it hits the EGT limitter and starts to de-rate, it's IAT delta is much better than the A6's.... this is totally not what I expected to see.
The A6 has way better lambda and EGTs and its pull was in way cooler ambient temps too.

Touareg on left, A6 on right.

Ive got a '14 A6 TDI. So far no engine/trans mods but I've been slowly lurking at the delete kits. I will also likely go with a Malone tune.

I'm not 100% surprised by the lower temps in that most of the FMICs don't have a dedicated shroud and so sometimes it feels like you're lucky if the air goes through instead of around, since you also have to cool the condenser and radiator.

That is a valid point for sure.... I'll have to get under mine to see if it's just in terrible shape as far as being full of road grime, or if it really is that terrible in OEM form.....
Depending on how ambitious I feel, I may even experiment with the addition of a shroud just for S&G as it would be super simple to make one.

The default FMIC is also pretty small, unfortunately. But I bet some sheet metal or plastic would help with some of these temperatures.

This looks like a cute option [:D]
