Hey everyone, another question for you. My start stop has only ever worked once or twice since i purchased my S6 about 3 months ago. i get the icon of the start stop with a cross through it 99% of every time i drive it. I checked errors with ODBElven and i don't see anything that stands out. Any thoughts?

Weak battery will disable it.

If there is too many electrical accessories on, it won't work. Also like Valpo says. Mine works mostly with minimum heat/cooling and when the engine is hot. Turn on heated seats and steering wheel and you can forget it.

The ECU analyses a number of different parameters, any one of which will override the auto start/stop system:
1. Engine temperature
2. Air Conditioning use
3. Load on the electrical system (lights/MMI/heater/wipers etc.)
4. Outside ambient temperature
5. Battery condition
All of these are continually monitored, and any one can override the start/stop function, the reason being it needs to maintain a minimum battery voltage in order to instantly restart the car in the start/stop scenario. This is also why, in a long stop scenario, the car will restart even though you’ve not indicated that’s you’re about to move off.
First suggestion would be to have the battery tested at a shop that knows how to test the battery, and go from there!

Don’t use the AC and it works fine. If it’s on, it doesn’t turn on for me. Try that and see. Also, be sure you are firmly pressing on the break.

I had mine turned off completely. I cannot se any benefit of doing this for the individual owner.

Mine is turned off. I have turned it on while waiting for someone in a parking lot. The car was cycling on and off to maintain temps without constantly idling .

It saves about 5 cents of gas per minute that the engine does not idle. Agree not much each time but city stop and go traffic will add up. Even knowing that I still turn the system off.

When I got my car, I tried to use it but it cuts the engine at stop signs. Give it some throttle to go after you stop and it cuts the engine and you look like you fell asleep at the wheel. Stop and go highway traffic, maybe. I've just turned it off and forgot about it the majority of the time.
