Had my mechatronic replaced last week. Now need to put my APR stage one ECU and TCU tunes back in. How many miles would you put on the new Mechatronic before programming? APR thought, but didn’t know for sure 500-1000 miles.

Did the new unit fix your issues? What were your issues?

I think 500 would be a good break-in period. Did the new mech come with any kind of warranty?

Kinda fixed issues. Lag when rolling stop is better. Lag between park and drive is shorter. It did have a hiccup when shifting under heavier acceleration, which hasn't happened again, but it seems like it might. And it was a lot worse with TCU tune, so when I get the tune put in, then I can really tell. Never had a code thrown.

I had a indy transmission shop do the install in which they got mech and fluid and filters right from Audi dealer. So probably 12 month warranty

As soon as you tune it again, you’re probably gonna void that new warranty lol.

Never heard of a transmission break in period. Mine would have already been tuned.

Didn't notice much a difference with TCU tune on Stage 1. Returned it and went back to stock TCU file

I stand corrected. Well played. However, OP might want to wait a little bit due to the warranty aspect. Or, just throw your tune back on there and enjoy the ride.

If the warranty is through an indy shop and not Audi I agree. I would have tuned it the moment I had time. If issues arise the shop probably can't see the flash counter.

Yeah I don't like waiting around and miss my tune. And I don't see a tune causing any damage to the mechatronic. Only "break-in" thing I'm wondering is the computer learning in the mech.

I think it can learn the mech regardless, I would put back the tune asap

So I put my APR ECU tune back in. They were unable to put TCU in because of the new software in the new mech (APR will release an update eventually).

Issue I'm having now is big clunk from 4-3 and when going from 2-1, slight delay and then it is fully engaged. Have to keep brake on hard or car will start moving. You can fell the car bog down when it gets into 1st. Wasn't doing that before the tune.
