I asked this previously but received no answer so I'll ask again. Pretty straightforward question. In the Android Auto App running in the MMI, using the maps feature, are any of you able to scroll the map using the touchpad? So an A6, S6, A7, S7 , etc from 2016 (I have a 2016 Prestige with a B&O system. When I select the scroll option I can only zoom in and out. There is no scrolling action.

Only cars that have touch, which A6 doesnt have unfortunatel, can do that.
For example PCM4 in Porsche has scroll function.
I also updated my signature to help people contact me faster :)

I'm considering doing this, but it seems like kind of a hassle. Does the update change the look of the Audi maps at all? Or any other parts of the interface?

Waiting on my SD Card, but have everything else, now just waiting on time.
Im with Audithesia, this isnt a hassle, unless you mean that its inconvenient to work around someone elses schedule for a unique task

I've also been looking at the RS nav bluetooth CarPlay adapter. Does anyone have experience with that? I saw a couple posts earlier in the thread from people who had it - not sure which I should go with.

Well if you use android auto and have it set to auto start, it will display google maps up on the mmi via AA without you having to do anything besides plugging in the phone
I also us AA wireless, so i don't even have to plug in my phone

If you join the chat group on TG, there is a guy on there with RSnav installed you could ask questions. Remember, RSNav is a full android OS, its not Apple... As far as performance, I can't speak to Apple and carplay, but with android auto wireless it works exactly the same, no performance issue at all.

Just got my 2016 A6 updated from Carplay last night with Android Auto, updated maps and firmware. Worked flawlessly once he flashed the ugreen ethernet/usb adapters I was using set up on a Windows 10 laptop with no ethernet port. No problems with my Bose radio once completed either, couldn't be happier. If anyone in the Toronto area needs the adapters let me know, I have 2 available. Thanks for your hard work Carplay!! Mine came with carplay but tone settings are greyed out when its connected unlike bt/radio etc
The carplay implementation on C7.5 felt like it was hastily hacked together (probably because they were gonna release the touch screen version anyways). The sound settings will be greyed out if there's nothing playing (even when there's audio coming through carplay). What I often do is switch over to Radio and change the settings there. The settings will stick when you're back to Carplay.

Just had this done by @Carplay_Audi on Telegram. Whole process took about 25 minutes from downloading the files to completed install. Works great! Super happy that it’s possible add this without tearing apart the dash etc., and for only $140 plus a $10 USB —> Ethernet adapter. If you have a camera SD card, just use that. You need about 3.5gb. What are you waiting for?!

2016 A6… was told by Audi, the 2016 CarPlay update could not be done. Even thought I had the correct USB ports as well. Some sort of “change” in the MIB2 in June 2015

I just had this done the other day on my 2016 S7 via Carplay_Audi on Telegram, and it was pretty painless, less than an hour in total. I have to say I am still pretty unsettled about what exactly may be in that firmware that was flashed, but the Carplay function seems very solid. My biggest concern would be data on my iPhone being compromised/stolen.
For others who have done this, what is the USB to ethernet cable actually used for in the process? I bought one from Amazon, but all we did was swap the SD card back and forth a few times between the car and the computer. I never used the cable for my update or activation. The technical cynic in me was wondering if there may be some exploit or vulnerability in that chipset driver...

You'll get some links to files you need to have available on the laptop. Sima then remotes in and does his magic. You don't do much, but here are couple times you move the SD card around. Most of what I did was wait in the house until I needed to do something.
The process is pretty streamlined and doesn't require a lot of baby sitting. But, you do need to be available during the process when a physical interaction is necessary.
My Apple Carplay works great. My MMI touch pad can control the cursor as well, but I like to use the roller. Volume controls work fine. I didn't see any issues with the CarPlay after the install.
Lastly, I ordered the Carlink (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08P18TSCT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)today and hope to get it working tomorrow. I'll report back on that.

For those that are looking for more info on the wireless Carlink 3.0 option ->
Punchline: definitely worth it and you should get it. Like now.
I bought it off of Amazon for $100 bucks shipped. Carlink Link (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08P18TSCT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It arrived next day. I set it up in about 10 minutes. When you get in the car, it autoconnects after about a minute or so. There are some boot screens that you ignore, and after just a bit, Carplay is active. You don't have to touch anything -> no plugs. No wires. No scrolling to connect. Nada. Just get in and start the car. I actually used the instructions in the box and it was relatively easy to follow. If you can build Ikea furniture or have bought anything with instructions from Ali-express, then this is a piece of cake.

Just bought a 2016 A6 Prestige a few months ago after a long long search. I was fully expecting having to tear open the center console and add some hardware to get CarPlay so finding the easier way to get it installed was more than a happy surprise. Everything works great, sometimes my music keeps having a short pause every 60 seconds but disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable fixes that. Haven't been able to pinpoint what's causing it but I think it's something about whether I plug in the cable first or start the car first and then plug my phone in.
Sneaky move by Audi to have the hardware to run CarPlay in 2016 models but deciding to ship them with the software. Makes sense, in 2016 the facelift was enough of a selling point so they intentionally postponed standard CarPlay until 2017 to have that as a "new feature". Probably easier and cheaper from a hardware supply standpoint to build them the same even if the software isn't activated.
I just had this done the other day on my 2016 S7 via Carplay_Audi on Telegram, and it was pretty painless, less than an hour in total. Obviously you can never know 100% but I'm not too worried about the CarPlay itself. It's running on the MMI software which has to be pretty limited. I would be surprised if there was a way to have it running any extra processes in the background pulling data from your phone and then somehow share that with an outsider. But then again, who knows.
One thing everyone should be aware of is that the person installing this gets full access to your computer. I did mine with CarPlay Audi and he transferred files on my computer and if I saw correctly, adjusted VPN settings while doing so. He's probably doing the whole thing using a VPN, hiding his real location. He also installed a software on my laptop in the background without really mentioning anything about it. My guess is that software is used to run the firmware update while you're wired to the car through ethernet, or he needs the software to generate the update file on your SD card. Either way, they get full access to your laptop and can do whatever they want. I made sure to use an old laptop that's been wiped clean and has zero personal data on it and after the procedure I formatted it again. Not saying these guys are doing this to hack your system but it's also good to be aware what's being done and the ways this process could be exploited.

They're using software similar to netcat to actually talk to the firmware via the adapter. It sends the commands needed to input the licensing information to unlock the carplay/AA features. Past that, it's all updates to the firmware on the head unit.

I experience the same 60 second drop out, but only after I answered a phone call through the Carplay interface. In my research, it is a suspected bug in Harmon's head unit software. Subaru owners were complaining of something similar, and their head units were made by Harmon as well.

Just had @carplay install apple car play on my 2016 Audi S7. Amazing! Super easy to work with and very responsive.
Tips:
make sure to have an SD card (I tried using a standard memory stick and it was unstable).
Plug in the PC you’re using while @carplay installs the software.
Sit back and in less than an hour done! You can contact @carplay on telegram (carplay Audi)

I installed AA/CarPlay (free) from the links here, https://youtu.be/VS21Lyess7o
I installed on a 2015 A6 with the earliest edition of the MiB2 software required for this upgrade. I use AA, and when using Google maps, and selecting the Scroll icon, (the one below the Zoom icon), the map centre is overlaid with a scroll graphic like the icon, a circle with four arrows on each side. When I then use the car's touchpad to try move the map, it just behaves as a Zoom function. I can't manually move the map to another location to visually click and select a destination, though I can set destinations using voice or by setting it on my android phone's Google maps prior to connecting to AA, so I can still navigate. The touchpad works fine to move about the screen onto the menus or icons, as does the big rotary button. Is anyone on this blog using AA, and can you shift the map using the Audi intelligent touchpad? On AA or CarPlay, but I use AA. If you can scroll, what version if AA are you running on your 'droid. I've not tried Carplay, I'll have to find someone with an iphone. This little video illustrates what I see.

Perhaps my question is already answered in post #1003 by Sima-Koya. Touchpad does not provide 2D input to maps it seems. This might explain why Audi in Europe only recently offered this ugrade (for €275 - €550 with USB socket) to certain cars after 2016, (and not to A6 until 2017), and even then only in Germany afaik, though most of the functionality was in the MHi2 software in the 2015 A6 with nav high. Anyway, it still works. I had thought of rolling back AA version, but @rhibbs query on #1002 is September 2021, so I assume an older version of AA on his android phone. Does this limitation also apply to Google maps from Iphone/carplay? How are carplay implementations of Google maps scrolled?

Is it possible you need to "tab" over to the centering arrow/compass after choosing the scrolly icon?
I just upgraded our A7 yesterday and will try this myself. The lack of a touchscreen certainly is cumbersome.

Please do, see if its possible toTab and highlight the centre marker while it's scroll enabled. There might be some button sequence that does it.

I recently asked the exact same Question before discovering your prequest. Like you, my scroll only Zooms. Today I discovered that the bottom left and right soft buttons below the rotary knob act as vertical scroll buttons, moving the map up and down from the current place marker. This allows you to go to a location anywhere north or south of the marker, but frustratingly, there is no way to scroll left or right. The top soft buttons would be ideal for this, but don't produce a response. This is unfortunately a mismatch between button definitions on the car to control strings in the AA car interface back to the phone. A real expert needed to hack the 3663 fw module software which addresses this.

WOW! Usually they just walk you through it via chat- or at least that's what my guy did.
I don't really think there was anything sneaky going on- or that Audi is that far-sighted. The newer MMI units can add such functionality since they run Linux now.

Also the Guy who helped me was serious and didn't use any VPN things. Just using an SD card and telling how to perform it.
I asked him and he said probably they used a network adaptor, only to access the MMI remotely and sending commands to the MMI.

SMH! I do not wish to throw salt or take money away from anyone, but CarPlay & Android Auto can be had by DIY. Utilize a service if you do not have the means to DIY or simply don't want to do it yourself. I paid because I did not do enough research. For future readers of this thread. Please search mibsolution on google and check out

It doesn't seem as if the "Audi Connect Key," enabled through the mobile "MyAudi" app, is compatible with the stock MMI software for the 16' C7.5. I'm wondering if it might work now with the upgraded software done here? As we now essentially have the 17' version of the MMI software, so it could possibly work, no? This is a feature which would allow you to lock/unlock your car with your phone. Anyone here have any experience with this? Regardless, your car's info must be verified by the dealer in order to activate the feature.

I have 2 C7.5s, data in both slowly went to shit during the 3G stuff. Decided to just use device data instead of spotty car data.
To your point though, the C7s are lumped in with 2016-18 media releases and stuff but the remote capabilities of the equipment can't do some of the things like unlocking the cars. I found it crazy annoying the need to enter the 7 digit pin to access some of the things you set up in your profile and the registered user or whatever was needed didn't do anything from my experience.

Yeh, but I wasn't exactly referring to Audi Connect, which I realize is very dated by now. I was referring to this new feature enabled through the new mobile "MyAudi" app called, "Audi Connect Key," that allows you to unlock your car doors just by approaching your car with your phone in hand, and is compatible only with models 2017 and newer. It looks as if this is something new. I just wondered if anyone was able to activate it after activating CarPlay here, which in essence, updated our MMI system to a 2017 version of the software. Apparently it requires the dealer to have to verify something first however, which they don't even need to see the car to do apparently.

No worries, just meant I'm not going to walk someone through the process, ha.
I just downloaded the NAR maps under the MHI2 folder that had 22-23 in the file name, which are region and system dependent, though the files aren't necessarily named very descriptively. So, if you have a 2016-2018 C7.5 vehicles they'd all be MHI2. I think the 2012-2015 models may be the MMI3G, but I'd do some research to confirm that. The good thing is your vehicle will tell you if they're the right files or not, and won't update if they are not, so you won't screw anything up by doing something wrong.

The MIBsolutions site is SLOW. If you get the "download manager" I reference in the write up, it'll download a few Mb/s, rather than Kb/s, and should have it in a couple hours max. It works kind of like using a torrent, where it downloads multiple streams at once, as it seems that site limits the DL speeds per stream.

Once you get the various files, you literally just need an SD card and time. The old methods you needed to use some more obscure skills and the ethernet adapter stuff to patch, but the most recent stuff you just literally do everything in the car with the software on the SD.

Formatting needs to be FAT32. Any newer cards over 32gb I don't believe are compatible with FAT32 any longer, as it's OLD and limit singular file sizes, so if you have a 64gb+ SD, you may just need to go buy a new smaller one. I got one a 32gb from Walmart for $10.

Thank you rkcstr very much for the instructions and custom metainfo2 file. I followed them exactly (I had same FW as you, 2016 S7 (C7) with B&O and Night Vision) but used 2 SDCARDS, a 64GB (for step 2/3) and 32GB (for step 4/5). I did encounter the same SDAR issue, but as you suggested, I clicked Retry and it worked on second pass. I did run into an issue in step 4/5 as I could NOT get the green engineering menu to show. Tried update 2 more times using same SDCARD, 32GB, and nothing. Then I decided to swap SDCARD (64GB) and put all the patch files into the PATCHES directory and that worked. So, not sure if the PATCHES directory was off or my SDCARD but wanted to share for others.
Now I'm installing MAP updates and SVM patch. Map directory is confusing as P87_N60S5MIBH3_NAR_NT_Q3.21_2022-23 is 11GB and P85_N60S5MIBH3_NAR_NT_Q1.21 is 22GB. I assumed the larger is the main update and the smaller an incremental update but not sure. Trying the larger first and then the smaller later.
UPDATE:
Per others, looks like copying one patch folder to the PATCHES directory causes issues. Copy them all and MIB will figure out the one to use. https://github.com/Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._More-Incredible-Bash/issues/158

Was the issue that 32GB card did not have enough free space to copy all the patch files?
Please keep us posted on the MAP update and SVM patch. I'm trying to do the same on my 2016 S6.

I think the issue was not putting all patches in same directory. The 32GB card had plenty of memory, I just moved to 64GB to try a different card. Map update worked just fine, but for now I only used P85_N60S5MIBH3_NAR_NT_Q1.21. So far everything works. Only odd piece is that in CarPlay mode it's all or nothing as you cannot switch to MMI to use bluetooth but that is by design per MMI messages.

Map updates worked for me. I needed to apply both - larger one first. The 22GB one is the 2022 maps. And the 11GB one is the 2022/23 update.

I have the same carlinkit 4.0, there is a fix to reduce media latency. Simply type 192.168.50.2 when you connect your phone, and it will direct to the main page of the dongle where you can update to the newest firmware. In the setting menu, you can change the media latency ms, the lowest accepted value is 300ms (default is 1000) and it worked like a charm for me.

Thought I'd add a bit to the thread in case some poor sod has made it through 29 pages and is still as confused as I was.
If you have an Audi with MMI MIB2 systems and firmware flavours of MHI2_ER_AUG11 or MHI2_ER_AU57x, there's an All-in-One (AIO) package available on mibsolution.one. No need to worry about firmware versions etc - the package works it all out.
Steps:
1. Buy a couple of high quality 32MB SD cards.
2. Download MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1 MU1425 AIO - link (https://mibsolution.one/au_3663_aio)
3. Download GraceNote AIO payload from https://mibsolution.one/#/1/9/MHI2 - HARMAN/Gracenote - just look for the AIO payload file
4. Download the latest flavour of MIB (More Incredible Bash) from github - https://github.com/Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._More-Incredible-Bash/wiki/About-M.I.B
5. Optional - download the latest maps for your region from mibsolution (https://mibsolution.one/#/1/15/MHI2(Q))
5. Unzip the above packages
6. Copy the AIO firmware onto the first SD card. Copy the gracenote payload to the GraceNote directory on the SD card (the directory will be there after unzipping the firmware AIO)
7. Copy the MIB files to the 2nd SD card (you could just overwrite the 1st SD once the firmware update is done, but this is easier)
8. If you downloaded the maps and want to update them, you may need a bigger SD card for them.
Then, Approach Thy Car:
- Reset MMI to factory defaults
- AIO SD card into SD slot 1, Install the AIO firmware update from the red menu. Carplay/Google wotsit will be activated, as will gubbins to allow you to install the latest maps
- MIB install from SD slot 1. Use it to do the SVM fix (remove the firmware error report). You don't need to do carplay etc activation from MIB as it wall already be done as part of the firmware update.
- Map SD card into SD slot 1, and install them through the usual MMI system update screen (you don't need red or green menus for this).
NOTES.
- I'm not an expert, and I don't spend much time on these forums - don't be asking me if x will work with Y! If the above seems too complicated and you can't be bothered reading all the FAQ's and wikis, pay one of the two guys posting here regularly to do it for you. It's worth the money if you're not reasonably tech savvy
- If an Audi dealer did the update above (yeah right), it would include an update to the bose or HK. However you'd then need to re-enter a bunch of parameters through the OBDwotsit. fine if you have access to one, not fine for most of us. So the AIO by default excludes the Bose or HK modules - ie it's safe to use as is. There is a separate metainfo.txt in the package that includes the update if you want to apply it (just needs a rename)
- The speed of your SD card affects the speed of the update, so get quick SD cards. I used Sandisk ultra and extremes
- My map package (Australia, so included in the ROW update) was bigger than 32GB. Windoze won't format >32GB as Fat32 which is what the wikis say you need to use. I formatted the 64GB map card as ExFat and it worked fine
- I only had a microSD in 64GB flavour, so I used it in an adaptor. The wikis advise against this, but it worked fine. What can I say - I live dangerously.
- Map file names are pretty obvious - ROW = Rest Of World, NA = North America, CN = China etc etc. Engage your cortex.
- AIO took 40min on my car (2016 A6 TDI BiTurbo).
- MIB took a few minutes
- Maps took close to an hour
- I installed everything with the engine running to make sure I didn't run out of battery juice.
- Be effing patient! Things take a LONG time, and there are times when it seems like nothing is happening. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS OR PRESS ANY BUTTONS. Magic takes time to occur.
- When you first visit MIBsolution, a dialogue box will pop up with a telegram channel link, and a Discord link. I'd strongly advise joining the Discord group at least. There's a 'manuals' section with basic howto's in pdf form.
- All the packages have wikis, FAQs, readme's and so on. Read it all. These instructions are deliberately sparse to force you to Do Your Research!
If the above links ever disappear or change, you will again just need to engage your cortex. The mibsolution website is arranged logically. Just search for the AIO packages in the MQB_Solution --> MHI2 - HARMAN firmware folder. Gracenote, you will be surprised to learn, will probably be in the Gracenote folder - again, look for AIO (the website does have a search function). And maps will be in the maps --> MHI2 folder.
All of that gets you wired carplay/google bollox. I bought the carlinkit 5.0 (https://www.amazon.com.au/CarlinKit-Wireless-CarPlay-Adapter-Connection/dp/B0BZWCWL53/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2ZIA10SKB50LD&keywords=carlinkit+5.0&qid=1685429012&sprefix=carli%2Caps%2C545&sr=8-3) from amazon - that's not an affiliate link (I don't need an extra 5 cents), but it's Amazon AU. Just search for the darn thing in whichever amazon non-forest you are. Also known as carlinkit 2Air. I believe the new flavour is car-agnostic, so it should just plug into any car with wired carplay and work. So far it seems decent - quick setup, and my phone connects and I have carplay within seconds.
I had two issues post install:
On my first drive, the Audi nav had me about 200km west of where I actually was. That was for all of my 175km commute to work. Came back to the car after earning a dollar, and it had fixed itself.
2nd issue may be the carlinkit - when I engaged apple maps navigation, I lost sound from my music app - tried a couple as I was proceeding, but no musics. Sound from apple nav was fine. I'll see if this happens again and send a support request if it does.
Some random progress pictures.

I've been using wired carplay since I modded my MMI earlier this year. But I wanted more - wireless. So following advice from various places - I got Carlink 5.0. I'm used to wireless mode on carplay modules from roadtop (on mercedeses) and over there, there is a significant delay when using wireless mode (almost 1s reaction time). This isn't the case here, so the guys who designed carlink did a good job, I guess.

Testing to see how stable it is. With google maps satellite overly it is not working at all - the view started "slowing down" after couple of minutes of driving, down to a complete freeze at some point (had to hard reset the thing). On the positive note - with regular "maps" it works just fine. There is no delay when using the knob, no visual difference in quality of the overall experience. Just start the car and it's on within 10-15 seconds...

I have an 2016 Audi S6 and I did an install bought from the NavMan. Good news... the install went perfectly. Bad news... Android Auto is lacking key functions so it is pretty useless.
The key shortcoming is there is no capability to scroll left/right, up/down on the display. This means you can never move the cursor around the map to click in an area you want to navigate to or a point where where you want the map centered. The system acts like is should be able to move the cursor because the touch-pad is active, but all it does is change magnification.
When I challenged Ben (owner of NavMan) his posture is he is not responsible for the poor roll-out of Android Auto.
My guess is this is not what was put out by Audi on the 2017 model which has the same MMI. I think there would have been a customer outcry if you could not do someting as basic as scrolling on the display. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Do any of you have a proper functioning Android Auto on an A6/S6 or similar?

Vey much want to update to the AIO and the maps. Have a few questions that I hadn’t seen addressed in past few pages and wanted to see if anyone could provide some insight or personal experiences.
1. Before inserting card into SD1, should I make sure the SIM card is out as well as all other media? Moreso, should I have the data connection module turned off entirely or does none of this matter?
2. Is there a way to revert back to my current software/firmware if needed and should I try to backup prior to going forward?
3. Finally, and I realize some might think I’m crazy because of this, but…
My car is covered by the TDI extended warranty for 4 more years and 55,000 miles from now. I’ll be covered well 2028 if I continue to keep miles down.
It is a 2016 A6 TDI purchased as a new car in 2018 after the fix had been performed.
So, it’s possible that I could really benefit from the coverage in coming years as the car is totally stock and well maintained (not always by Audi).
Anyone know if this update would create problems for TDI warranty coverage simply for being performed on a 2016 A6 outside of dealership and because the 2016 aren’t officially recognized as being capable of (though clearly it is).
I realize nobody can guarantee an outcome but would love some thoughtful feedback about this question and the others if you have some time.
Thanks, everyone!

I have a 2016 TDI that was stop sale with first in service date of 2018, similar mileage as well. The CarPlay activation has not come up from any warranty work, have had some adblu and other minor sensor things done under the Diesalgate warranty.

Reviving this old thread.
Anyone have a source for the MHI2_US_AU57x_K3663 AIO update? The K3663 patch keeps failing. MIB Solution site is unreachable, and I cannot get Android Auto to activate. I activated via M.I.B. but Audi Smartphone Interface won't detect my phone despite being connected.
