I have been noticing something strange with how my car shifts. I don't ever remember seeing it do this before, but maybe I never noticed it? I was wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has this happening before I go and waste a day at the dealer only to be told it's fine. When my car changes gear, shifting up, the rpm will drop with the next gear and then a second later drop another 200rpm or so. It is most evident going from 4th to 5th, but happens slightly in other gears. It happens if I let the car auto shift in both normal and sport mode, if I down shift the car first before accelerating and up shifting in sport mode, or if I use the kick down switch to accelerate then up shift. Here is a video of what I see. My car does not have the ECU or TCU tune, the only mod is a CTS Turbo intake.

Hmm, I wonder what Audi will say about it. Probably that it's fine. You are the first person I have heard say that their car does it too.

I'm going to guess that if the mechanics do anything, they will set my DSG back to factory reset and send me on my way.

Weird - shouldn't do that

I wanted to come back and give a quick update to this thread. I had Audi look at my car and they say they have seen other cars come in with the same question. They had researched it and contacted corporate Audi who told them that it is just how the cars with the DSG act and without trouble codes there is nothing wrong, everything is working within spec.

So I guess unless our cars throw a code there is nothing wrong.

Aaron, you posted this a long time ago, do you still have the car and did you ever figure out what was causing those shifts? Mine is doing the same thing.. Dealer says its normal and I want to tune the car but don't want to void my warranty...

Since I changed the fluid twice in 1,000 miles and put in a new mech unit, I haven’t experienced it.

I have noticed this on my DSG though. 034’s DSG tune seems to eliminate or lessen it. My car had a gearbox malfunction and the mech unit fixed it. Every gear is solid.

Does this mean my transmission is going out? If so I would like to take action before it’s too late in hopes of saving it

I’m not an expert by any means, but I’m not sure. Mine did it for thousands of miles and I’ve heard of people having this exact issue for 10’s of thousands of miles. Never seems to get worse though.

Very common issue. I’ve read quite a few times that 034 tic fixed it. They even discussed this issue in one of their live chats on YouTube.
