ECS order..

Fedex just dropped of my ecs drilled and slotted rotor and pad kit.
After taking everything apart and opening the box.
It says L and R but both rotors are R passenger side.
Vents are backwards driver side.
Has anyone received a KIT order from them and got 2 of the same sides??
I had to install just going to drive like grandma.
Emailed the customer service i am just wondering if its happened to anyone on here.

i dont think the vents the directional, just the slots. I had the same thing when i got my stoptech rotors, i thought the vents would be directional but only the slots were

I think even OEM rotors are uni-directional, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Yea the article says not to worry about what angle the slots on the face of the rotor look like.
Just go by the internal cooling slots(highlited in red below) and what direction they're leaning in.

A lot of people are confused by directional slotted/drilled/dimpled rotors...the internal veins are what make a rotor either directional or non directional. Easiest way to know if they are directional is to put a screwdriver in the vein and see which way it sits. If it's straight up and down coming out of the rotor it's not directional. If it's tilted forward twords the front of the car it's directional, but installed on the wrong side of then car. If it's tipped twords the rear of the car it's directional and installed in the correct side.

I know I made sure to put mine on based on the box label. I went out and looked and the direction of the slots, on the face of the rotor, match the pictures on the ECS website.

I am talking about the internal vane.
One is facing up shown on example above and the other side is facing forward.

If both rotors have R on them then they probably packaged one box wrong. It happens.
Simply return it for the correct one. If you installed it already then you will most likely be SOL and will have to buy the L again. Call them and see what they can do for you.
And yes - they are directional.

^thats how mine came - sounds like you have 2 rotors for the R due to packing on the ECS end....

the vanes in your rotor directional or straight are really not to going to be causing you a large performance difference. Maybe, under an intense track day you may see one side fade a bit more, but really in day to day driving, even spirited driving you are not going to see a difference.

here are your options from easiest to hardest

1) keep it and install it as is
2) same as #1 but contact ECS and see if you can get some $$ off
3) return the rotor, ever ship a rotor before? not impossible, but good luck, ensure it's packaged well, they are heavy and have a way of just destroying boxes.

personally, i would just install as is.

OEM S4 rotors are not directionally internally vaned. So you'll have one that goes one direction and one that goes the other. Just follow the labeling on the rotor so your slots are oriented properly.

Just put a set on my car a few weeks ago. The internal vanes are directional.

I should have been a little more clear. The S4 rotors are directionally vaned. But it they are only directional on one side. Meaning you'll have one side that's oriented properly and the other that is backwards. See the pics below. Every OEM style S4 rotor we carry looks the same.
