View Full Version : Searched and still have Q's - which Oil is preferred for summer?

Looked through the TSB list of "Audi Oil Quality Standard VW 502 00"

Saw mobil 1 0W-40 listed. Was going to go with this, then figured why not ask to see if there's folks with experience who know of better options...

Any prefs I should consider for this unusually warm NY/NJ summer? Anyone use a specific oil and end up with undesired noise (increased lifter noise, etc?)

TIA

Switching oil for the outside temperature is a thing of the past and completely unnecessary with modern synthetic oil. Run the type specified in your owners manual.

Oil has two weights 0W-40W - Operating temp and cold temp. No need to switch as the info is all contained.

I have super high miles now, running 5W-40 Liqui Moly. Have had good luck with it, Cheap on Amazon in my opinion for 5 Quart Jugs.. Granted I burn a quart every 250 miles, but whatever.. lol
It's 502.00 compliant and factory calls for 5W-40 :)

I've used motul specific and Castrol edge both in 5w-40 without any issues. You can use 0w-40 or 5w-40 depending on your climate. I only use oem or big name manufactures (Mobil1, Castrol, Motul, Amsoil, etc) for fluids and I haven't had an issue with any car, ever.

Liqui Molly 5w-40. Just tried the "high tech" and I do notice a bit of a mpg increase as stated on the jug. I used to use Mobil 1 0w 40, but had to keep adding oil more often
