So I'm in the process of picking up a '16 RS7 and I'm considering either doing downpipes or a full exhaust.

I've been browsing through most of this section and I was hoping there was a thread with all the exhaust options for the RS7 but I couldn't find one. I know APR makes downpipes and Akrapovic & Milltek make full exhausts. Are there any other options out there and how do they sounds compared to each other. Any advice would help!

Congrats on the RS7. I just got a 16 S8 and currently ordering a 17 RS7.

I am interested in this too. For both the S8 and the RS7. I think they are pretty close with the S8 needing a 12" or so piece that any shop can add.

Supersprint and Capristo also make exhausts for the RS7/RS6. Supersprint one has lots of options. Cheaper alternative is to get a custom centre piece to take out the resonators. A couple of guys have done that in the UK.

Thanks man, that's a nice combo!

We've installed a number of Milltek systems (both catback and with downpipes), and it's pretty special. Around down, its pretty demure, but when you open the valves, you can hear it coming from blocks away. It has a real Jekyll/Hyde personality to it.

APR Downpipes don't look like they play nice with most aftermarket exhausts. The relocated cats force you to either go custom or retain the stock setup after the cats.

Getting them installed tomorrow. Not expecting to need to change the OEM exhaust because it already has a nice sound when in sport mode and the dps should increase it since it removes 2 resonators.

Performance wise, an aftermarket exhaust doesn't give you much of a hp increase. Just mainly weight savings. Downpipes are the best bang for your buck. APR pipes give you a free update to stage 2 map too.

Thanks guys, downpipes seem like the way I'm going to go. Although that guy Tony's Akrapovic exhaust with 3" downpipes sounds ridiculous

Anyone have any videos of an RS7 with 3" downpipes and no other modifications to the stock sport exhaust?

We have done quite a few different options on the RS7's including the Akrapovic, Akrapovic with Downpipes, Milltek Res & Non-res.

It really all depends on how much power and sound you want out of it. The RS7 is absurdly fast as it is, so i would say 50% of our clients go with the the Akrapovic, 25% go with Milltek, and 25% go with some variation with the downpipes. After owning 3 RS7's personally, i really LOVE the sound of the Akrapovic over the Milltek non-Res mainly because it sounds much moire refined. It is also quite a bit more expensive though so keep that in mind.

When you are running downpipes, remember with the additional power output that these cars are producing, i HIGHLY suggest going with a complete setup that also includes Software, Intake as well as a Intercooler that keeps the car running in the optimum temps.

Here are a few videos for you. Feel free to give us a call - be more than happy to help you out with any questions :)

Akrapovic sounds the best, but it's also 3x more than the Milltek. I just installed a cat back Milltek, LOVE it. Really brings the car to life, no more sneaking into the neighborhood at night though, you definitely will be heard even on comfort mode. The comfort mode is kind of like the noise level of a mustang or camero that's stock, the Dynamic mode is fairly loud on the outside, but not very loud in the car due to all the damping in the car. I would say the noise level of the dynamic setting is roughly comparable to a supped up mustang or comparable muscle car that's had some work done. Sound is different of course, only talking about noise level.

Dynamic sound is very throaty I really like it. It's really how the car should have sounded from the factory in my opinion.

I have the Milltek non-resonated exhaust and I'm happy with it. The Akrapovic is very nice, but I could not justify spending that kind of coin on an exhaust that really does not add much power. As stated above the non-resonated Milltek is very subtle when valves are closed and much more aggressive when opened. I believe the APR downpipes also replace the mid-pipes of an exhaust like the Milltek, so you would not be using the Milltek midpipes if selecting the APR DP's. I plan on getting the APR DP's and going stage 2 soon! This APR DP/Stage 2 Flash combo with the non-resonated Milltek exhaust will be slightly lower in cost compared to the Akrapovic exhaust alone.

Thanks for the help! Yeah Akra is just too expensive for me to justify it but do you have the resonated or non resonated? I definitely can't be rolling into the neighborhood at the times I do being very loud lol

That's a great point and exactly what I was thinking about doing but just sticking with the stock exhaust and getting rid of a resonator or something. APR downpipes, Stage 2, Intake and a resonator delete but just not sure how that'll sound

Completely different cars (RS7 and GT3)! Love them both really .. Turbo S in comparison is heavier and feels softer, more luxurious. GT3 is just a raw, street legal race car :)

What are the measures of the stock exhaust on audi rs7 2017? I want to build my own exhaust with stainless steal all the way.
