Roc-Euro Intake

I'm doing some research and from what I read the Roc-Euro intake seems to be the best out there as far as making more power and better noises from the engine bay. With that being said I do worry about taking off the factory intake and box. Has anyone experienced any issues doing this? Water getting into the intake area?

First off there are so many options out there now that you dont need to go with Roc and wait 3 months for it to be delivered. See the many threads about this.

Second you would have to almost submerge your car for water to get into the intake. It's very easy to remove and add an intake.

You get a lot of noise which is the best part. One way to look at it is you'll probably drive the car harder so gas mileage will probably decrease [drive]

Have and had intakes on all my cars and trucks. never an issue with water, unless you are constantly offroading through deep water and flying through it and flooding the engine bay... hopefully your not doing that in the S4... lol

Lots of recent bad reviews on Roc Euro. You can probably find a lightly used intake for cheap in the classifieds or just spend a few extra bucks to get another intake in a reasonable amount of time.

I have had mine for 5+ years/60k+ miles. No issues whatsoever. Great intake, seems to be an issue with how long some orders are processed these days. Back when I bought it, John was very helpful and got it out to me quickly.

I've driven with it through michigan blizzards, thunderstorms everything... Water will not make its way into the intake unless you do what AKPS4 mentioned lol

Just to add on. Bunch of us have found that it yields a tenth and 1mph in the 1/4 mile on tuned vehicles.

Don't overthink it....it's an intake and the differences between brands (other than cosmetic) are negligible. "Best" is subjective. You should have no issues removing the stop box and replacing it.

There are better designed intakes out there now with better customer support and faster delivery.

I agree with most of what's said above. I actually cancelled my order with Roc Euro yesterday. Spoke with John & he cited some additional supplier issues (all-around nice guy from my interactions with him), but I just got tired of waiting, lack of communication, & empty promises. Hopefully he gets things together soon.

Having said that, I went ahead & ordered the ECS Luft-Technik system, based on recommendations around this forum (link here (https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S4-Quattro-3.0T/Engine/Intake/ES3098775/)). But I agree, no significant difference between intakes. Go with what you like best, but be forewarned by the stories of others.

I wouldn't do the Roc intake simply because of the poor customer service.

When I was shopping I was looking at the ECS, CTS and USP intakes.

Ended up going with the USP because they were having a special.

Build quality is great, customer support is even better. (The filter I received was slightly damaged, they sent a new one no questions asked!)

Metal tube will always be a little louder than the CF tube. The silicone tube will be a little quieter then both.

CTS makes a very nice metal tube intake that is pretty much a clone of the Roc but has better mounting for the shield and an aluminum bracket for the SAI filter instead of the zip tie like the Roc uses.

In my experience, the filter media also makes a difference in sound. An oiled cotton filter with wire mesh will make a higher pitched, louder sound than a dry cotton filter with no mesh. This is from my testing with different intakes/media on my previous 2.0t

I agree with others, brand doesn't matter. Biggest difference is if you want a carbon showpiece or just a good intake. If you just want a good intake, shop the classifieds. I picked up a used USP intake for 150, and it's been awesome.
