OK, getting ready to do brakes after 40K miles. Have always driven manual transmissions, and have a question about the process of "stopping after bedding" to put put the car in park.
ECS posted this earlier, and this is how I've always bedded new pads:
Make eight to ten near-stops from 60mph to about 20 mph. Do it HARD by pressing the brakes firmly, but do not lock the wheels or engage ABS. At the end of each slowdown, immediately accelerate back to 60mph, then apply the brakes again. DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP! If you stop completely, with your foot on the brake pedal, pad material will be imprinted onto the hot rotors, which could lead to vibration and uneven braking.
So,. after coming back home and going down the hill of my driveway, how do you slow down and then put the car in park and shut it down, without coming to a complete stop?? (thus depositing pad material on the rotors) If it's in gear, it's going to keep moving...

Bedding process is determined by the pad manufacture. Akebono pads, which I have, said to do nothing more than drive normal and avoid harsh braking for 500 miles.

Do the bedding process and then drive for a short period of time to allow the rotors to cool off. Then you can drive home and park the car.

This, once done with bedding, simply drive around calmly for another 5 min or so to allow the brakes to cool. Then you can use brakes and park like normal.

I'm confused as to why you think a DSG is any different than a manual car. If you've done it in a manual, there is nothing different about a DSG or any auto transmission.

I did mine on the interstate. 90 to 40 a few times

no difference for a dsg, just dont completely stop, like you said. dsg has nothing to do with pressing the brakes. just dont set the parking brake if they are super hot still.

You're not supposed to immediately park the car after doing the hard bedding stops. You should keep cruising around for a bit with minimal/no braking to allow the brakes to cool off afterward, and then you can park with no issues.

+1 to cspcrx. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

This is exactly what you want to do. But you don't need to go 90. Just like hwy speed down to about 30-40 depending on what speed you start at. But you want to brake long enough to get enough heat into the pads so you can cause the resin in the pads to melt and transfer onto and into the rotors.

And like others have said once your done drive it for a little bit to cool the brakes down and your done.
