B8.5 S4 and I currently have a Borla cat back exhaust. I'd like to add downpipes without cats (ideally)
I was looking at the AWE downpipes (with cats) but they have a 6 week lead time.
I found a 034 Motorsport test pipe in the classifieds. Would that do the same thing I'm trying to accomplish?

I think the test pipe is replacing the cats, so if you want to keep them, you have to install downpipes.. As for the wait, why don't you just go custom?

Doesn't JHM make test pipes for this?

Is there a large performance advantage for deleting the cats? It will all be getting done at the same time as going to EPL stage two dual pully. I guess, is it worth the labor and cost to do test pipes versus downpipes?

If you want a real gain, do test pipes, downpipes and a complete exhaust line to the back. Remove alllll the restriction.

Doing down pipes is easy. Doing test pipes are a PITA from what I read you have to lower the subframe to get them out. The "downpipes" just have resonaters in them not cat's.

And don't forget the fact that you will fail emissions in many states without cats.

Borla exhaust already comes with non resonated down pipes, its a full cat-back system. You're looking for test pipes or high flow cats. I was quoted 5-6 hrs labour to replace my cats at an indy shop.
There was some early controversy around the 034 test pipes around lack of performance and throwing codes.
Jhm offers high flow cats and test pipes but not much info out there on em.
