View Full Version : Octane Booster - Local gas station out of 93/94!! APR Stage 2+

So Petro Canada gas stations across western Canada have run dry which is where I get my 94 fuel. I'm almost empty and too far away from a Husky station that has 94.
Any recommendations on brand of octane booster that I can put in my empty tank and then fill up with 91?
Thanks

Ya, E85 if you have any up there in Canada.

Don't think there's anything close to me. My range is down to nothing now after driving around to both 94 locations in my area just to find all the pumps are roped off.

3-4 gal of E85 and 91oct 10%E will get you over 93 octane

Yea just don't have access to E85. Was thinking about various boosters like Lucas Oil that claim to raise octane 3 points

Can you get ethanol from a local hardware store?

Suppose I could look around or pick up some race gas to at least get me to the tuner and flash to the 91 tune.

If they will let you get some race gas in on container some 103 would get you buy.

if you don't drive it hard, shouldn't you be ok on 91?

I'd hope so but I really don't want to do anything that will make the current program freak out with some of the APR issues that have been going on.

I've heard this stuff actually works, I haven't tried it myself though. It would be interesting to see some before and after logs.

Put enough 91 to get you down the road to another potential station if you're that worried and drive like a cop is behind you

it works to a certain extent if mixed properly, the only issue with it is that it's not a stable additive, it'll eventually separate unless it's constantly mixed. It also leaves a rusty residue inside the combustion chamber, through the exhaust ports, all the way out to your tail pipes and coat your bumper with a similar color.
really the only trued/true octane booster we have available would be ethanol.

toluene from a paint store works should be fine for short term use I have used in my old supra it was great.

Xylene works too. Used to run that in my Talon on occasion. Sherwin Williams paint stores have it.

Just FYI it should work on 91 you will just have a considerable lack of power due to the ECU constantly adapting.
Just ask anyone on the West coast of the US who have flashed a 93 tune when we only have 91 available. [facepalm]
I would put enough 91 in the tank to make it to the next gas station then fill-up with your normal stuff.

Thanks - may have found someone willing to give me a lift to fill up a 5 gallon gas can which will be more than enough to get me back there to fill the rest of the tank.
