Ok....I'm about to pull the trigger on HRE Flowform FF01's....19x9.5 et45. Help me pick.....255 or 265 width (both would be 35/19). Pilot Super Sports of course. I'm lowered on Bilstein PSS10's. I can't decide on which tire width to go with and don't want to rub. [rolleyes]

I was all set on 265's as I like that look better but the shop said they usually do 255's on those.

Not sure if this is also a factor to consider but Tirerack shows 5 different Pilot Super Sports all in 265/35/19 but they have different tread widths. Will that affect how much stretch there is and potential to rub?

I was hoping to go 265's so there is less stretch but obviously don't want any rubbing issues.

I just ordered tires and wheels.
VMR 803 19x9.5 et45 PSS 265 tires

I went this route because i have a stock suspension and did not want any stretch.
Wheels will be in Monday.

PSS do run a little blocky and chunky if that makes sense if rubbing is a concern. Iv'e "heard some say a 255 PSS may run close to some manufactures 265 etc.

Wait and see what the wheel/tire pro's say here [wrench]

So I ordered this exact setup and did a TON of research. Running a 265 should result in almost no rub. However, it may result in a tiny amount of rub that will require removing a bolt in your fender liner in the front. I wanted to go 275, but did not want to have rubbing issues. From what I have read, 265 is a 95% solution. (My setup is due to arrive in 3-4 wks)

This is a 255 on a FF15 of the same size. Its not completely square but defiantly not what I would call stretched. I did this for 2 reasons one I didn't want to rub when lowered and it was a pretty decent price jump form 255 to 265.

Can you take a side profile shot for me that will show the amount of stretch? I'd really appreciate it. Looks great BTW! [up]

I saw your PM, but I'll respond here. I'd lean more towards it not rubbing, and if it did rub, it would be really minor. I'd personally have no problem doing it, but I would go into it knowing there is a small chance of some rubbing.

Now, some of that will depend on the tire you use. There are 4-5 different PSS's in that size, and as you mentioned in your PM, they run various widths. The Porsche and GM (TPC spec) tires run pretty wide; well, the Porsche spec runs really wide. If you stick with one of the MB specs, you should be OK. They are definitely more middle of the pack in terms of width. The MO is used on standard MB models, and MO1 is used on AMG versions (so, I'd maybe lean more towards it as it's only 0.1 inches wider than the MO version). All are similar XL/98Y rated tires with the same treadwear rating.

255 PSS on 9.5. PSS do have thicker sidewalls but they have a rounder profile. Good luck OP.

Thanks everyone for your replies and pics and info! I'm going to go with the 265 width and as jran76 stated I'll make sure to get the MO1 spec PSS tire. I'll post back with pics when they are installed. Could be a few weeks.
