View Full Version : Help with JHM Browser, can you access the server through the JHM browser or IE?

I am trying to access the JHM server via their browser. Everything is installed but the browser application seems to be unable to communicate with the server producing Error 118. I can't find any firewalls on my end but can anyone that has JHM server access, try and see if they can log in or at least connect to the login screen. That way I figure out if it is on my end or just that the servers are down for the time being.

Thanks in advance!

Is your VPN connected before trying to access the JHM server?

Use their application and do not use internet explorer or any other browser to access the JHM browser.

Is your VPN connected before trying to access the JHM server?

Yes, VPN seems to connect without issue except it reads "APR secure VPN" and not JHM .... like the instructions indicate, but the VPN server is the vpn.jhmmotorsports.com address so I figure that is not an issue

When attempting to load the JHM Browser 2.0, I get "Error -118 when loading url http://10.0.0.38:8080/"

Can you guys connect to with their browser to the login prompt? That is where I am stuck

The part where it says apr secure vpn is normal as jhm uses aprs flashing system.

I recall i had an error last time i tried to connect but that was at the vpn client, not this browser error youre getting.

Perhaps the servers are down, or your computer is blocking access to port 8080.

That is my thought, hoping someone is available at home to check to see if they can access the server login and ruling out the server down possibility and ruling in my computer as the culprit

Ok. Figured out the culprit. Im getting the same error as you. Looks like the vpn cant connect, therefore. Cant connect to the server through the jhm browser. Looks like the vpn server is down.

Any input Jake@JHM?

Connecting to vpn.jhmotorsports.com through the vpn client failed.

Thanks, at least I know that it is most likely on the JHM side right now and not just me. Last login for Jake was Friday night so I am pretty sure off for weekend. At least now I can hang this up until tomorrow when I can trouble shoot with them once they are open. If it was just me, I would be sitting here and driving myself nuts on why I won't work.

Thanks for verifying. Although the funny part is the VPN client seems to be connecting fine. Unfortunately I am just computer savvy enough to fix some things, but networking issues are mostly over my head.

Weird. The vpn client isnt connecting for me, although all ports are allowed through firewall and forwarded. I was able to do it a couple months ago. I didnt change anything, now I'm unable to connect

I just disconnected, my assigned port was 2000. Do you think there is only one computer allows access at a time to that port? I am at the limit of my port address knowledge, sorry if this is a silly statement.

Follow up, turned out to be my home internet connection was not allowing the VPN client communicate despite appearing to be logged on initially

For future reference- If you get error 118 on the JHM Browser, that means you are NOT logged into the VPN prior to opening the JHM Tuning Browser OR you are not able to connect your your VPN through the JHM Browser because of IP Configuration.

Hey jake, pretty sure I spoke with you earlier actually because I am stupid and was reading the wrong password.. anyway it says to connect the car to a 40a charger. I am assuming it has to be a 40a constant and not a 40a+ engine start charger correct? I just want to make sure because if so I need to buy one because mine is only 10a constant and 50a start.

I just flashed my car over the weekend and I picked up this charger http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/379215-schumacher-sportspower-automatic-battery-charger-engine-starter.html. It was 100a start, 15a fast charge and a 2a slow charge. So, I just flicked it to the 15a fast charge and had no issues

All you need to do is keep the battery voltage above 12v or else you run the risk of bricking your ECU.

I dont remember exactly but I had to reset my router IP address to 192.168.1.1 which is a default address. Comcast / Xfinity sometimes uses 10.1.10.1 which was preventing me from connecting to the JHM VPN.

One is a IP address (local) and the other is a subnet.

I was getting the error 118 issue as well 2 days ago but that was because I was opening their browser before having the VPN connected.

I had trouble getting it all to work awhile ago when I tested it (I haven't installed it)

I solved it by using my Mac instead of my windows computer [emoji23]

I tried everything on that windows, I reformatted windows 10 three times installed 64 bit twice, lost everything I had on my external hard drive it went on and on, I tried for two fcking days

I went to my Mac, first time I tried it it went right in [facepalm] I hate windows

typically err 118 means you are not connected to the VPN before trying to open the browser.

People also do not setup the VPN profile before trying to connect to the VPN.

I HIGHLY suggest people read the instructions provided int he windows folder that matches the windows software on your PC. It explains every step for setup. There is also a troubleshooting document for common issues.

Yes [emoji23]

Don't feel too bad, computers are a pain unless you really spend some time on them

Idk if you remember Jake but I had contacted you and started a thread with some mega detailed posts and screenshots and at the end of it the only answer that I/we concluded on was the fact that I was running windows 10 on a 6/7 y/o laptop and that windows was not correctly communicating with the hardware and the drivers weren't working properly etc

I did everything the instructions said and more and it wouldn't work, I turned on my Mac, went into boot camped windows and it worked first try and all I did was type in the information.

So I will say that it does not matter how well you follow the instructions or what you do, sometimes the programs will simply not run no matter what

I understand that, which is why I said common issues. Your issue is a very rare one.

We get a LOT of people having troubles because they are NOT reading the instructions and just trying to open the browser without installing/setting up anything.

Hahaha, I could definitely see that happening.

I don't get why people are always so against reading directions, so many times I've had people need my help assembling something or other and all of their problems were because they didn't follow the directions haha

I don't know either, and am also guilty of it.

However, if I get to the point of getting stuck I will then go for the instructions.

Haha! You people!

Anytime I get anything, even a car. The first thing I do is read the manual/instructions front to back

Always have always will
