Hi guys,
looking to install 19x9.5" wheels in the back of my 11' S4. What size wheels can be put up front that wont cause any problems. I just think 19x9.5 up front is too wide or is that actually normal? Will lower car by roughly 1.5" with H&R sport lowering springs.

Check the wheel fitment discussion, but for reference a 19x9.5 et40 will sit just about perfect all around with no rubbing with a 255 35 19 tire lowered.

offset is more of the concern. then tire width. something like an ET45 in 19x9.5 flavor is just fine, even when moderately lowered. the question is just how low and what tire. to my understanding 255/35-19 will work in the majority of cases but since some tires are wider than others you MAY need to roll the inner fender in some cases depending on how low you go. I've run et45 9.5" for my winter set and it worked fine, but I also had a 245 tire width in that situation and not lowered. looking at it, I think lowering would have been fine, but going 1.5" lower and with something like michelin PSS tires it'd be close. anything with less ET would be asking to rub.
Jran may chime in, he has quite a knowledge base on this topic

He's pretty low and has quite a bit of negative camber. That's always going to look a little more tucked in.
9.5" is fine all the way around if you are lowered. I'd definitely go that route before I ran staggered wheels/tires. With the 255/35/19 tire, an ET40 is relatively safe. If you want to be 100% safe, you can go a few mm's higher. As mentioned, a lot will depend on the tires, ride height, and alignment.

willtheyfit.com is a good tool.
a 19x 9.5 et40 will poke 15.7mm more than OEM. Seems like a common match on the forum with no issue. I'm going 18x9 +30 which poke 19.4mm. i'm not dropped so it should be good.

Yes to both above.
I run 19x9.5" with 40 offset all around. Currently wrapped in DWS 06 all-season tires 255/35/19. These are much meatier than the stock Conti's that came on the car. No issues at all. About 25.3" fender to ground all around as well. Some very slight rubbing on big dips in highway on passenger rear side when gas tank is half-full to full.
Do NOT run staggered setup on Quattro...only complicates things and can potentially be very damaging to the drivetrain. I'm sure Jran can provide more specific and accurate info but, in general, not advised to do staggered setups on all wheel drive vehicles.
IMO - 19x9.5 is the best setup for our platform, blend of practicality and aesthetics. Nice wide stance and fills wheel well nicely.

ok it's done then. Right now my wheels are i believe the stock 18x8.5 .. im going to a square setup with 19x9.5. as for tires, right now im running the hankook venti.. something..something...something 245/40. The plan was to drop by 1.5" and if that wont happen without rolling fenders, i'll just do 1.25". as for the offset, i was going to go with et43 or 45 so it wont be a problem. but i see some of you guys are running lower than that.
thanks for the tips guys. much appreciated.

If you did this setup to your s4, when you changed the springs did you also change shocks and struts?

Was it a cup kit? Don't the shocks and struts not come with the mounts? Used donor mounts? How's the ride?

Look up the shocks on ECS. It shows you everything that comes with them. You don't need anything extra. The fronts are struts with the spring perch. The rears are separate shocks/springs so just standalone shock tubes in back.
Ride was very close to stock with this setup. Was very pleased with it.
