P030x would be the first thing that comes to mind. You need to read your codes to find out which cylinder is misfiring....then change out that coil.

look and see if oil is coming out of the oil fill cap could be a pcv problem. Is it making any noises other then feeling the rough idle? If i wasn't busy this week i would help you out by scaning your car, but if you can wait till after xmas i could help ya.

About a month ago I replaced my spark plugs, so I think that is a good start. What do you recommend to get a read out? Never done it before.

I have an upgraded PVC valve solution, with a catch can, so I don't think that is it. The car is not making any weird noises, but it idle rough enough that it feels like is going to turn off.

unless the coil completely failed it shouln't have killed it. do you feel a loss of power meaning you would be in limp mode?

yeah sounds like a coil then, that or a really bad fueling issue.

see if someone in the local area can scan it for you i'm sure i am not the only one on here with a vagcom or obd2 tool

There is definitively a lost of power, I tried to engage the first gear and the car started kind of shaking and felt like it was going to turn off. Thanks for offering your help, but I wouldn't want to put you out your way, plus I will be in Utah riding. What do you use to do the read out? Would this work?

yes that scanner would work as well but its sort of a waste to buy just a scanner that reads CELs and nothing more, but if you do get just read and post what code it popped out.

probably a coil, but also could be a large vacuum leak

I think I will give this a try, I can always return it. What do you mean by only CEL? I know the good scanner is crazy money, do you recommend anything else?

This. I had a stock intercooler hose blow off while driving on my jetta. It was like a blown coil pack x 10. Same thing when I lost my intake manifold plug on this car.

Sent from my porcelain throne.

Lots of options being thrown out....but knowing the code would save you the time required to work through all the suggestions.

Hello guys,

I replaced all coil packs and the car looks back to normal and idles good, but will know for sure once I scan it. Let me know if this scanner is any good, had good reviews on Amazon. Will post the codes as soon as I get them.

I replaced the coil packs and the car looks and sounds normal, I scammed the computer and found out that there was a misfired on cylinder one. Is there anything else I should replace? I wanna make sure everything is perfect.

one letter off on the keyboard is all it takes...

So you got P0301. keep the other coils as backups, they're still good (well useable)...throw one in your trunk (next to that quart of oil we all keep in there) so its handy next time one gives out.
