So what was the total bill for the install??
About $1000 in parts and another $1000 in labor. The car was from Chicago so the bolts in the knuckles on both sides were seized, they spent 2+ days just trying to break them loose, thought we were going to need new knuckles (at $600/ea) so ultimately just happy that didn't happen.

In all my years on this forum I have not heard of this so I thought I would post it up here for everyone's education:
Last night, went to leave the house and had no power steering and dash board lit up (no charge to the battery). Popped the hood and noted that neither the supercharger pulley/belt and accessory belt were spinning. After a couple of seconds, the belts started spinning but both were pretty shredded. So I shut the car down, called my mechanic (even answers after hours) and had it towed into the shop.
This morning, mechanic gets under the car and (as he suspected) discovers the harmonic balancer/lower pulley assembly has separated. Apparently, in an effort to smooth out vibrations produced by the motor, Audi engineers design the harmonic balancer/lower pulley with a rubber bushing sandwiched in between them. Over time, this rubber degrades and tears which allows the harmonic balancer to spin and the pulley doesn't (or does so at a different rate of speed due solely to friction).
Long story short, the bushing cannot be replaced as it is one complete unit. At the same time, BOTH tensioners, rollers and belts (obviously) need to be replaced. Waiting on total estimate for work to be completed.
Update: Cost of repairs $1500. Balancer/pulley needs to be ordered from Germany. Car is down until next Wednesday[headbang].
Update #2: Looking into the cost of Stage II GAIC since they are already going to be in there anyway.
This has become a noticeable problem in the B8 forum. JHM has produced a one piece lightweight pulley that acts as a "stage two" pulley as well so you're able to kill two birds with one stone.
Something to consider.

Got her back from the shop. Took the opportunity of a complete front end tear down to go ahead and upgrade the supercharger pulley and flash to GIAC Stage II. I also added the roof lip...

The fit has a little to be desired as the roof has a slight curve to it and the lip is not completely able to match the contour. Paint is a spot on match so for $55 what more can I expect. I can always pull it off, template the roof and then trim the lip.

I'm in the middle of adding a OEM Rear View Camera to my 2010 A6. Already replaced the license plate lights pull panel, ran some cable. Today was dropping the glovebox and wiring it into the MMI and connecting to the CAN bus. First time doing this kind of stuff so learning a lot.

Buffed, polished, and waxed. Never seen it so bright white!
Also took off the tire letters to replace them as i had some rubbing and ruined them...debating keeping them off. Loving how clean it looks.
Next up: repaint the grill as this one is chipped to hell despite being just 3 months old (thanks ECS), and exhaust.

After looking further, it isn't as bad as I thought. Need to replace a washer fluid connector and figure out how to reattach a few of the cracked connection points where the screws were either already missing or snapped off.
On the plus side, I can now easily access the orange side marker lights that I'd been meaning to swap out with the white ones I purchased months ago....

For that washer fluid connector...i cracked mine removing my bumper. I just bypassed it altogether using the existing connector. Works perfect and no weak points to break!
Swapping out the marker lights is super easy...don't need the bumper off for it. Just get a small flat head in and pop em out. 5 minute job.

It depends on the car and color and what you're looking for. I like the blacked out look but have never been a fan of those peelers, they look like starfish to me. I'm considering doing black Niche Targas for me next set, I kind of like the silver and black playing off each other.

Thanks for the feedback guys and I've got to say I agree. I've gotten tired of my peelers and I'm having some trouble finding wheels I like that will clear our calipers. I was thinking about doing this as my winter set up but don't think there's enough contrast for me with black on black. I appreciate all the input!

Installed the Chipwerke Pro box. Put it on last night in about 5 minutes and no problems at all. Very impressed with the performance of it - especially for the price! The entire power band is much smoother and the boost definitely does not die off at the end like it does stock.
I've had tunes on cars before (all Audis/VW turbos and all APR) and have to say it's at least as good of a jump as the 2.0T (B8) Stage 1 tune from APR. So nice to have a steady pull all the way to redline with it!

Not today, but yesterday, I changed the oil on my 3.0T for the first time since buying it in November. I'm glad that I did not put it off any longer, because I found it was running with a Napa filter instead of a German made filter. It looked so strange that I had to Google and make sure my HU 722 Z was going to fit the motor.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16202085/20160123_145858.jpg
Not sure what kind of oil they had in there [:/]. I'm running Castrol Edge 0w40 505.00/502.00 now. One thing that I noticed with the 3.0T is that the oil fill port has moved towards the middle of the motor since my 1/4 turn funnel now hits the coolant reservoir. One torx screw and it was out of the way, but that wasn't necessary in the 3.2
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16202085/20160123_145340.jpg
Also tried to change out the fuel filter with this new one that I had sitting here (before my 3.2 Avant was totaled). Pulled the fuel filter and then noticed that it was a 6 Bar and the new one I had for the 3.2 was only 4 Bar. Needless to say, I put the old one back on. Took 20 minutes tops and the fuel came out looking fresh, so I'm going to hold off for another oil change before sourcing a 6 Bar unit. I'll likely do it and the LPFP on the next maintenance round. [If you want an unused 4 Bar for a discount for your 3.2 LMK; P/N 4F0 201 511 D]. Note to anyone about to do this: you'll need 10mm socket, T25 torx bit on a socket wrench; long one won't fit, a bucket, rags, jack, strong fingers or pliers for pushing the buttons on the fuel line connectors to disconnect.
Swapped out the cabin filters as well. 10 minutes, maybe 15 because I had to go back inside and grab the shop vac to get all the leaves up.

Got around to installing glovebox, trunk and licence plate LEDs. The glove and trunk were cheap (<$1) and do the trick. They are 6000 K and match the footwell lights. The trunk was a weird one to mod because the circuit is controlled by some processor logic, or so it seems. Having the same issue as other people with it not coming on, I just tested the polarity of the glovebox light housing and arranged the LED for the trunk the same way (since trunk, glove, and puddle lights are the same), and reinstalled. The next day, I checked and it was working.
Here's what the COB LED for the trunk and glove is like (same one can be bought for <$1 shipped and some sellers are putting them at like $5 or more each, beware):

The license plate LEDs are BRIGHT!! Easily the brightest ones that I have used for license plate lights. Nice and clean 5000 K, like in the image. About $6.50 each shipped

Sorry to hear that but good job looking at the "silver lining" about the grill!

I replaced the door lock actuator on the passenger side. It was not unlocking any more.
Everything went well and took about 3 hours. I could do it in about 1.5 hours if I had to again. Only issue is that the alarm now does not chirp on lock. It acts as if a door is still open, but they are all locked. Going to do some research to see if I can figure it out. I may have to refurbish my OE actuator and reinstall that. Of course, that is after I find my VAG-COM cable and check out the faults.

Hel all,
New here, the thing I did to my Audi yesterday was purchase it! I got a 2009 black on black Prestige 3.0T. So far I LOVE this thing.
A little background on my car history: I've had quite a few cars before this: 500whp Silverado, 2K Watt surround sound Escape, beater Ranger (with a racing seat for the driver and a 3.0 V6), 92 Corolla, E46 330ish (was a 325i and I swapped it to the striker M54B30 motor), and I also had a W8 and B5 A4. Currently my wife drives an 09 Mazda CX-7 with the 2.4T.
I have already de-badged and gutted the intake box. Also, have purchased LEDs for the interior which I am waiting to arrive. I need to get some aluminum and a TIG welder so I can weld up a new intake pipe. What I want to do is use the factory air box and just use a smooth piece of pipe to connect it to the throttle body.
I have a lot in store! I am excited!!

It has 107K on the clock and I got it for about $13. I was literally waiting at work to leave when I started surfing Autotrader and found this. Had I not found this I would be in a manual E39 525i Wagon with no where near the toys and about 30K more miles. My wife told me to find a car for $6,000, so instead I put $6,000 down on a car [evilsmile].

Even though our model doesn't use the diesel motor, I think some of it is a result of the emissions scandal. It is not that the car has depreciated, it is that people are not buying them so sellers/dealers have to drop prices to move them.
With Consumer Reports naming Audi as top manufacturer, you may see prices tick up a bit.

It would but you just paint it or dip it black to hide it. I used paint on mine but all the highway miles have sort of sand blasted it so next time I'm using black truck bedliner which won't go away and then it won't show through either.

+1 here. With the RS6 grill which doesn't have the plastic crossbar, you have to cover the silver crash bar. I too painted mine originally, but as @Dutch says, rock chips etc show through over time. I recently had mine wrapped in gloss black vinyl to prevent that from happening again.

I fixed the dipped bulb issue that came up after changing out to new Morimoto XBs. I must have not properly secured the connector during install, leaving it prone to disconnect after some bumps and right hand turns (AFS).
Good thing is that I can now remove the airbox, replace a bulb and button her back up in under 15 minutes.
I also picked up a fit kit to complete my Thule rack for my sedan since my RailGrabs don't work on it. I'll be posting them for sale if anyone is in search.

I didn't do anything to it, but I bought a bunch of stuff in preparation. I'm stoked because this was the week of great deals and I had just received my yearly bonus last week. So in the span of a few short days I got:
An ECS RS-style grille on their promotion ($150)
A new style large 'Quattro' badge for the grille, 42CM long!! ($30)
A 3-spoke steering wheel with Aluminum paddles off a B8 S4 for $120. A steal in my book, since the Al paddle upgrade costs about that much. (been wanting a 3 spoke for comfort)
OE primed rear diffuser and lip, was mis-priced on eBay for $85 shipped. Need to get it all painted.
Diffuser looks like this sickness:

I received my [s4] steering wheel and started cleaning it. Took it apart and wiped out all the cracks with alcohol. Gotta get that last dude's dead skin out of there[o_o]. I also used MGK sneaker cleaner for the threads and leather. I figure if it's ok for my leather shoes, it should be fine for the wheel. It actually did a decent job in restoring the red to the threads; They were dull from oils and dirt. Followed up with Detailers Pro Interior Cleaner. I'll hit it with some UIGP before I install it this weekend.

Which bumper is that? Do you have a picture before the lip was put on? I'm curious to see if it's the same as mine. I can't find a lip anywhere for it.

Where did you get the tape from and is it an easy process to remove the lens and wrap.
Thanks

It's just the standard non-S-line bumper.

It was easy to attach. I used self tapping screws. I also sanded down the top of the lips so they would sit flush with the bumper.
I got it from ECS.

Note: the shape of the underside of the standard bumper does cause a small gap between the lip and the bumper for just a section of about 6 or so inches.

It's available everywhere including eBay. But I have a bunch already. Hmm... come to think of it, if you want 2 strips to cover those lights I could sell them cheap and put it in an envelope.
And it took less than 10 minutes to do. A heat gun is nice to have but not really necessary on this wrap since it's not a complex shape. And it's reversible in under a minute.
I still need to get in there with VCDS and program those lights off. There's an amber glow around the edges at night [emoji3]

I can't find the link for the life of me. And now I'm not exactly sure where I got them. They were coding and hyper flashing the first night, but have not tonight. I will keep looking for the listing and post up whether or not they code again.
The fogs definitely code and I need to install the error cancellers that I bought.
And I have never found an LED that does not flash during cold diagnosis. And I have never found the option to disable that on a C6. [emoji35]

Replaced the start button that was peeling. I had some vinyl wrap over the button, but now have a legit version.
That said, I have a used "new" style button for sale for cheap does $35 sound reasonable for this? Trying to find out where I should start the ebay listing.

Found the listing! http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-High-Power-CREE-6-SMD-T25-3157-LED-Bulbs-For-Turn-Signal-Brake-Bulbs-Brake/32500206669.html
So, apparently I didn't even order an error-free set of bulbs. And after driving a full commute, I can tell you when they will throw an error. If you let it blink for longer than 30 seconds, you will get a code and likely a hyperflash. But turning the signal off for a second and then back on, it will hyperflash for 2-3 seconds and then return back to "normal" unless you let it go for another 30 seconds. In reality, this is only annoying when you are at a light and leave the blinker on. As a side benefit, you get a nice ugly warning if you leave the blinker in the on position for too long. I feel like this should be standard equipment in some cars in my area [:/]
I do have a set of error canceller resistors that I can install. Depends on if I like this 'feature' over the next week or if I get annoyed with it. We'll see...

Got an alignment today.
-Chris @ West End Alignment in the LA area is great. Took all the time he needed to get things perfect and once complete he had me drive it a few times so that everything could be tweaked into perfection. 5/5 will definitely go back!
@skylinrcr01
http://www.autodip.com
It is basically plasti-dip. The difference is that instead of being like plasti-dip, which has a rubber base, auto-dip has a vinyl base. The end result is a smoother glossier finish. Once I post outdoor pics you will see a NOTICABLE difference. I really like the stuff. From initial use it was just as easy, if not easier to use than plasti-dip.

I bought both the splitter (last one) and blade from Amazon. I got the blade for $22 (a steal) and the splitter was $460.
I am going to paint match the rear valance to the car (Ibis white) and then wrap the valance spoiler black.
