285/30 and 245/35 is a perfect match. But i noticed they didnt use that combination but instead used 285/25 and 235/30 wich only has a difference of like 0.3% and audi says max 0.5% or 4mm in height (mine is 2mm heigher).
So no this wont cause a problem as front and rear tires have almost the same diameter.

Also added a side net and made this place into a storage area. eBay $13.99. Fits perfectly and good quality.

man.. nicely done.. been looking to mod this for a long time... the avant covers come with a net built in .. why audi would cheap out to save 3 cents and making a netless cover for the sedan i do not know... ive looked on ebay for other audi nets.. looked at scrap yards.. no luck

i may try this especially since its a pocketed net

* i also like your 12v plug... my 2005 had it my 2011 does not... alot of VW guys do this mod... i may try it

Is that what you get when you look in the mirror?
Regardless, these are members cars, they aren't your cars, they can do what they want with their cars.

Also - just because I'm sure you're not going to like it.. here's a little secret. I'm fitting 20 x 11 JDM wheels to my Audi A6..

Yeah - I have read/heard great things about it.

The kit I'm piecing together should be pretty decent. Will be running BC Gold coils, with the springs swapped out for bags, my 3 gallon tank, Viair Compressor, and Accuair Air management.

That's no slouch. I'd make sure to have adjustability with the damping on the struts as air is way progressive and ramps up a lot. So a strut valved for a specific spring rate might ride harsh on air early in its travel.

Couple of jobs done today that were doing my head in..
Condensation in rear lens.. Dried it out and sealed it round the edges with some silicone seal! I guess time and the Scottish weather will tell if It's worked..

Before

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z96/alym786/IMAG0260.jpg

After

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z96/alym786/IMAG0261.jpg

Also fitted some new Bosch Wiper blades, as the old ones had seen better days!
Then gave the car a good wash and HD wax.. Rain-X applied and tyres dressed!

Alym, is there a solution to this other than drying and resealing?

someone suggested drilling tiny holes in the bottom to allow it to drain, i am not too sure about that route.

Today, i installed the Ziza interior LED kit - for the most part, the trunk light didnt work at all ( i wasnt surprised since i had read about it not working properly)

i also couldnt install the rear door lightning, seems as tho the wiring is not long enough to get the bulb housing out and didnt want to break anything.

does anybody know how to work that part?

I've been eyeing this route myself. I had a Q5 and traded it in for the Q7, but I really like the idea of having a Q5 back in the house since we can't get C7 A6 Avants. I've been also thinking of moving up to a A7. Even with all of that, nothing happening until I get this promotion I've been pressing for.[:|]

6-8 hours of labor so we'll see what the final bill is plus I have a 15% off coupon since the car is "high mileage" but it'll be between 800-1200 I think at their prices [:(] And I did shop around at the other dealers around here and they were all in the same range but the service with mine has been much better than any other dealership I've ever dealt with so I just kept it with them since I trust them the most.

Rear gives you the best bang for the buck. Front will really only make a difference at the track and auto cross. I did the rear first then added the front a little later because I am anal that way. I really didn't notice a difference during street driving.

You need trunk lid, inner and outer tail lights bumper and valence and some connectors as we'll the tail lights are not a direct swap you have to change out from a 10 pin to an 8 pin and then wire in the inner tailights into the existing harness. The facelift tail lights as have different mouthing spot which can be taken off to make fit in the pre existing mount points

Decided to start investing into the facelift rear end conversion...

Already have a facelift front bumper ordered...

Anyone have anymore details on the rear end conversion?

I'm currently working on a write-up in English. I used the German version and have the wiring diagrams from Audi once I get everything 100% I'll create a write-up

The face lifted outer lights look skinnier and longer(different shape). Is it the exact same shape and size as the pre-face lift?

Trunk was not fully closed, at all and diffuser is not installed although you can't tell. Im going with a Rieger Tuning RS6 style diffuser with RS6 Tailpipes
Isn't that diffuser meant only for avants? Like the Cult-Society one?

The facelift bumper is extended underneath the light making up for the difference of the size of the lights

You're right it is, but if you put your mind to anything you can make it work.

So got a non repairable puncture this week.. So thought it was a good opportunity to change brand of tires as the Bridgestone Potenzas have a huge side wall and it causes the rear to scrub a lot... The tire place only had a Continental 255/35/19 in a branded tyre available. New tire is top left (Conti) and Bridgestone is top right.. Quite a difference I think.... So got another Continental on order for next week and gonna move them both to the rear where it scrubs!

Hahaha, thanks Quattro! Yeah, found that site this morning after I posted and went this afternoon to have it done. In the process, they found that my driver side front threw a weight so that was contributing to the vibration I was feeling. Going to do a freeway run tomorrow so I will be able to tell if there was an improvement, but so far, street driving is markedly better.

I just put on a new set of BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp 2s in the same size as my old Dunlop Sportmax (255/35/19) and I am no longer rubbing in the rear. Not today, but within the last couple of days on my '05 4.2:

Re-installed engine and transmission (new timing components, head resurface and valve job, water pump).

New passenger side headlight (Xenon AFS = ridiculous $$).

Updated to LED license plate lights, original housings discolored.

Fixed armrest console latch.

It's been nearly a year since my car decided to puke the passenger side timing chain adjuster. It took me this long to save the extra $ for all the parts, do the teardown and rebuild. It is -so- good to be back in the car.

Now I need to do something about the passenger side door blades, which the brackets are rusted.

Next mods to consider: Three-spoke steering wheel. Perhaps see what it would take to put the rear-view camera in (probably too much $). Audi Music Interface.

ProtoFly - just an FYI a very reputable and advanced shop in my neck of the woods quoted me 1600 - 1800 to install a rear view camera depending on the features of the camera, so it is a bit on the pricey side. Needless to say I passed.

A6Rick, these are just shocks/struts and dont actually lower the car. I am already running H&R sport springs which dropped it about 1.75 inches all around. If you are looking at an all-in-one solution for lowering your car with new shocks/struts, look at ST coilovers, KW coilovers, etc.

I have been wanting to do an RS6 bumper for quite some time, but the shipping price always gets me. Quick question for you, did you need to get the RS6 fenders as well or will the bumper work with the regular C6 fenders? From the pictures, I think the bumper should work fine with the regular fenders, just wanted to confirm before I ultimately pull the trigger on one.

You can get the bumper new from Europrice, below is the note I got from Alex a little while back, a little too rich for my blood, will probably try and find a second hand one on Ebay.de or Ebay.co.uk, they tend to pop up every once and a while just need to find a seller willing to ship it stateside:

"I can however supply the parts for the bumper package, this would be the cover, tow hook cover, lower grilles and lower splitter.

Same. lol but i have snow tires for winter so that should stretch the life span on them. Had bfg comps before and they were way too loud and i got a pretty good deal on these tires so i couldn't pass on it.

Thanks! I believe they are indeed 102mm. Whatever comes stock with the Stasis exhaust. At some point, I may be replacing them with black oval tips to fill out the S6 valance a bit more. I will get you some good photos of the whole car later this week. New wheels are being mounted Thursday.

Had to go back to the stock wheels today. I was having vibrations, even with the proper hub rings (my S5 wheels had 66.56 mm center bore) so had them checked thoroughly, found that one is out of round, and ultimately decided I need to get them remanufactured. They have some curb rash so I'll get them all fixed up and they will work fine for my winter set.

Hehe, I've got them in my garage for 2 weeks, waiting for a friend to get back from vacation and paint them (he has a professional painting business). I'll post pictures when they're mounted. The price was around 250$ and do not bolt them in, just glue them as the A6 doesn't have the holes for the bolting. Car will look so sporty afterwards, a friend of mine already has them on :

Have you installed them/could it be done DIY? Im assuming they would fit on my '08 A6 S-Line sedan... I doubt the middle skirt would be any different.

Still need to measure the FTG but new wheels and tires are mounted (19in Advanti Drago & 255/35 Potenzas), alignment done as well. They stick out just a bit further than I would like as it rubs on some of the bigger dips so I might have to machine the hub down a couple mm in the future or raise the coils up just a tad more but I'm pretty happy with the way it looks.

nope, 19*8.5 with 255/35 tires

Something is a miss here. I am running 19X8.5 et 32 wheels with 255/35/19 tires and mine don't poke out as far as yours. Does the other side poke as much as well? Your rear subframe may be shifted to one side. Mine was which caused the passenger side to poke more than my driver.

Both sides are even, i was surprised as well and everything (installation, mounting balancing, alignment) were done by the head Audi Tech I'm friends with locally. We were both surprised and can only surmise that it has to be due to the way the wheel is designed. We test fit a pair of 37et on before I ordered these and they were a perfect fit so this has caused a bit of a headache but for the most part it is sorted, just a couple of tweaks and it should be ok.

New wheels on. VMR V810 in sparkle silver. Hard to tell from the pics but the finish has some flakes in it. Looks almost gunmetal in the right lighting.

v810s look good, and can't go wrong with the PSS. 19x8.5 ET35? did you also get the 57.1 centerbore (not sure if they offer both the 57.1 and the 66.5 CB fitment)?
Also, really like the Audi centercaps--do tell on those....

X2, they will see this and then hopefully know you have the lock key on your person not in the car.

Bummer for what happened to one of our cleanest Avants on here. Gutted is the best term as others have said.

Great tires. Had them on my OEM 19"s since the P-Zeros went out.

Yes to the 57.1. Ordered them through pyspeed.

Cant remember where I purchased the centercaps from. I believe it was ebay though.
