Symphony II+, Problems when using iPhone Charger

I currently have a 2008 A4 with the Symphony II+ radio. I also have a Belkin micro auto charger:

My radio reception is fine with the little charger and cable plugged in, however, once I attach my iPhone my radio reception takes a crap. Does anyone have any idea why charging my phone would cause this?

does your car have blue-tooth capabilities
or is the Belkin unit you have have a built in FM modulator

I neither have bluetooth of anysorts in my car not is the belkin unit an FM modulator. It is a simple cigarette lighter adapter charging cable. If it makes a difference, I get the same interference if I plug it into either the socket next to the ash tray or the socket under the arm rest.
