I used to use mothers, then moved to meguiars, now im starting to lean more onto zymol. What do you guys prefer is better?

I used to use Zaino and loved it. Then I used something a local guy made (he supposedly reversed engineered Zaino) but was not very happy with it.

I recently heard good things about Meguiars NXT, and I've been happy with it. It's no Zaino, but it's better than what I get out of regular Brand Name waxes.

When things cool off this fall and I can actually spend time detailing during the day, I'm going to give Klasse a try.

I threw everything else away after trying Zaino. It made me hate all my other interior products too. Took two bottles of perfectly good Lexol and tossed them after using Zaino. I also like Klasse all in one for quick exterior jobs because i'm lazy but the Zaino is worth the effort.

cheers! Mike

I love the results Zaino produced as well. No reason to use anything else unless you already have it on your shelf.

menzerna, thats the good stuff. Its from Germany and is used on many of the high end German cars. I swear by it, i have used all the other mentioned and i think this is the best.

how about none of the above. Meguiars NXT is good but it only seems to last about a week (not kidding). I tried it a bunch of times and now hate it. I don't like the NXT car wash (soap) either. The best car soap I have ever used is the Meguiars gold class (you can get it a Target). For polish and wax I want something good that does not take a lot of time. I always hear great things about Zanio but I read the instructions and it sounds like it will take way too much time for me. I have been using menzerna polishes (amazing stuff) and Klasse AIO (all in one) for wax/sealant. I use the Klasse AIO because it is very easy to put on a lasts for months. The regular Klasse sealant lasts even longer but is a total PITA to buff off. Those are the best products I have found that are easy to use. Also get yourself a Porter cable if you don't have one.

I used Zaino on my Grand National back in 2001. Back then, yeah it was a PIA. You had to let the Z2 cure in a garage for 24 hrs or longer without driving it to get the best results, which makes it kind of hard to do with a Daily Driver.

With ZFX, It's much easier. I haven't used ZFX, but a friend of mine has and said it was much easier than it was when I used Zaino back in the day. Of course, it also means you have to spend more.

Anyway it made that 13 year old (60,000 mile) black factory paint look like a brand new show quality paint job.

And the one thing about Zaino that amazed me was when you washed it, it beaded up the soapy water. I don't know how to describe it but on any other car finish, water would bead up. When soapy water is applied, it doesn't bead up like plain water did. This wasn't the same with Zaino. I don't know if this really means anything along the lines of protection, but it would do this for months and months of washes.

Anyway, my $.02

I've really enjoyed the 3M products. Meguires I've never had long term luck with. Mother also is very good stuff but I found 3M to work the best for me

umm are you guys talking about zaino or zymol? I don't really like zymol because it leaves blue dust everywhere and you have to buff it off fast after you apply it

Zaino, end of discussion.

i too prop the zaino. if you stick to the more basic products, the wash, the all in one polish, big finish, clear seal, etc. then it's no more work than any other product, and the results are amazing.

if you are hardcore detailing, zaino's got that stuff too... but yeah, it's pretty intimidating to use.

i just hate having to order online. wish i could get as high a quality product at a local store.

PLUS ONE. I love Menzerna products. I use Einszett too. The only problem is these products aren't typically carried by local Auto parts places.

I like Zaino products, but Adams is much more user friendly and does a very good job....and both greatly out perform anything from Mother's or something from Target!

I use P21S for polish and wax. I have used other stuff that lasted a little longer than P21S, but this stuff goes on good and gives the best results imo. I have yet to try Zaino, so I'll test it some day...

"Cook auto supply dash vent magic" for my interior. It smells like cream soda [:)] and does what it is supposed to do: clean, leave no residue, make it look factory, and leave it smelling really good.

I have yet to find a good leather cleaner/protectant. I just use Maguires for now.

Are you referring to Tropicare stuff from a guy in Frisco?

For the interior you guys have to try Cockpit Premium. best product I've ever used, period. It gives you that matte finish, like your interior is brand new. I swear by this stuff. Try it and thank me later.

slightly off topic, but have you noticed that none of the major auto parts retailers sell a car wash or polish worth using? it's depressing. i hate having to order online and paying an extra 15 bucks for shipping for couple $15 bottles of polish/wash. would rather use the shipping money to pick up some new microfiber towels or something.

Just an FYI for those that use Zymol bought at places like Pep Boys and Checker etc: the Zymol they sell is just repackaged Turtle Wax iirc. Turtle got the U.S. rights to use the name. I'm not sure of the specifics but I'm pretty sure the stuff they sell in those stores isn't really Zymol. I'm talking about the Zymol that costs 15 bucks or whatever. The real Zymol is much more expensive.

I used Zymol from Advance Auto Parts a few weeks ago and it was horrible.

I just got the sample of Glanz Wax that was advertised on here. Gonna try it next.

Seriously?
I've only ever used one bottle of Zymol, but it was pretty expensive... Turtle Wax is the worst wax I've ever been in contact with and it's typical of them to ruin another brand. [rolleyes]

That's what I've read on Audiworld's detail forum a couple year's back. I think the bottles cost about 15-25 bucks? I'm not sure of the specifics but I'm pretty sure that's what's going on. I actually have a bottle and it's not horrible, but it doesn't last long at all.

1Z Glanz is awesome, that is what I have been using for a year now. Lasts a very long time. I use a coat of FMJ for the winter then wax with Glanz only maybe two three times tops in the summer months.

I've used a lot of stuff and always come back to Meguiar's. The Gold Class line is excellent and IMO produces the best results. I absolutely refuse to go to the effort to use Zaino or anything Griot's sells. I think it's too much money and a waste of time unless you have an absolute show car. IMO, as long as you take care of your car's paint and interior by washing and waxing regularly, then Zaino, etc. isn't worth the money.

I am a Meguairs whore, so as far as their line goes, any of it is good, but I've been less than impressed with NXT products. They don't last very long and the shine isn't anywhere near the Gold Class line. Quick Interior Detailer is priceless. I love that shit. I normally use regular Meguairs Quick detailer, Car Wash, and Quick Interior Detailer, and Gold Class wax as well as the Gold Class leather Cleaner\Conditioner. The Gold class Car Wash is flat out badass.
