Hey all,
I have searched every thread, in all forums for anything but came up short. Read the manual cover to cover for both car and navi, nothing.
When I am enjoying some music, even at moderate volume, when a call comes in, the ringer nearly blows out my eardrums, and comes on very sudden.
Literally makes me flinch to the point my heart skips a beat it is so loud and sudden.
If my music is louder, the ringer is equally as loud. There is no pause before the ring, it just instantaneously jumps from radio to ringer and scares me to death, like someone yelling "lookout!!!!" [eek][o_o]suddenly from the back seat.
Is this normal, or am I missing some secret adjustment.
I have tried other adjustments, as my call volume is perfect, my bluetooth connection chime is perfect, but the phone ringer is frightening. Rambling......
Thanks in advance!
I experience the same thing, feels like my ears are going to start bleeding! I just shut off my bluetooth unless I am making an outgoing call...
Anyone know how to fix this?

While it's ringing, scroll the volume button on the steering wheel down.

Thats strange, in my car the music just turns off when a call is coming in and when I am done with the call the music will come back on. There is no sound at all. I have a blackberry and I keep it on vibrate while I am in my car. The only thing I changed was the phone connection volume.

On my nav you can adjust the volume of the lady when she's giving directions. Its in the setup portion of the menu for my nav. Look on www.navplus.us I'm sure those guys have discovered how to fix this problem as they are the experts of the nav for the Audi's. There's also a section for regular Symphony stereos I believe, but if not you can still ask the question. It may be an update cd you have to make or some sort of fix like that.

Excellent! I just did a test, and for now, that seems to work. I will see if that works tomorrow, but so far so good!
Thanks!

Yeah, I tried this, but this is not the solution. Very separate from the sudden ringer.
Thanks.

This is it. I hope this holds tomorrow. I cranked the volume full blast after doing the adjustment and it seemed to work great.
Didn't scare the shi% out of me....

Where do you change the "phone connection volume"?

When the phone is connecting to the car when you first turn it on, press the voice command button then scroll the volume down.
I had the same problem for the longest time until this came up in another thread. Now it's nice and quiet.
I was able to fix mine as well...thanks! [up][up]

lolz that is so funny. I was just thinking the same thing. The ring sometimes scares the shit out of me. Even more funny is the reaction of other people in the car who don''t know what bluetooth is.

UPDATE: My ringer has returned to normal "freakishly loud" levels. The fix I have done appears to be temporary at this point.
Anyone have luck with a permanent fix?
I can turn the ringer down once it starts ringing, but the initial ring still almost makes me piss my pants....[o_o]
