Knock, knock, knockin on the 12s door. JHM goes 13.03 @ 105.9mph with just bolts ons.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
BOTTOM LINE. Yes these cars will run 12s with just bolt ons. This was only after having a customers car at our shop for a month of R&D time and tuning. (between trying to run the day to day business operations)

    Windows media Video (20mb in size) -> JHM B6 S4 13.03 @ 105.9mph ----- Alternate Link

If you are a Mac/Apple guy and need to make this work with quick time go here -> Quicktime components for wmv at microsoft.com

By popular demand. Raw footage of all 6 runs for those who don't care for the editing. -> JHM B6 S4 13.03 @ 105.9mph ----- Alternate Link

All the slips. Worst run was a 13.3 with the car going sideways and a 2.02 60ft.

Here are the 2 13.0 slips.

How we could have ran 12s? With cooler temps (temps were in the mid to high 60s all day), a couple more passes, better traction or better downpipes (we had some VAST piggies, done in house still using the STOCK down pipes and main cats). With one of those I had a 12.9x pass in the bag. This was with a customers car so I was limited on passes as well, otherwise I would be back this saturday going for it again.

Performance Mod list and specs on this 2005 S4
    -JHM tuning
    -JHM Intake manifold spacers
    -JHM Lightweight front rotors
    -JHM shifter/linkage/bushing
    -JHM Clutch kit
    -JHM intake elbow heater bypass
-VAST Downpipes done by JHM. (Gutted pre cat and relocated o2 sensor, still using main cats and stock pipe diameter)
-Lightweight flywheel (brand-x) We are building our own now, just needed to try one with these cars to give us "proof of concept"
-Stock airbox with K&N panel air filter and flapper mod
-Fast Intentions 2.5" cat back (JHM is working on our own cat backs as well)
    -Volk 18" wheels
    -Apikol Snub mount
-Stock 50lb battery still in the car

    Conditions and gas used
-Ambient temps in the 66 to 69 degree range all day.
-Gas was 91 octane with some 100 octane mixed in to achieve 93 octane to make the playing field even

Parts available NOW for the B6/B7 S4.
-JHM tuning (only for local guys until we get our flash encryption technology done) So really, really soon.
    -JHM Intake spacers
    -JHM Lightweight front rotors
    -JHM shifter/linkage/bushing

Products currently in development and coming SOON for the B6/B7 S4.
    -JHM Lightweight rear rotors.
    -JHM Lightweight flywheel
-JHM clutches (used during those runs)
    -JHM Longtube headers
    -JHM Full Exhaust systems
    -JHM Nitrous Kit (port injected)
    -JHM Lightweight Crank Pulley
-JHM Parts for the RS4 customers
-More as we get suggestions, ideas and feedback.

I am quite busy and I will ANSWER all questions as soon as I can. Thanks and 2009 is the year of the V8 S4!!!!!!!!!!!

    AWESOME!

Jason, I'm a huge fan of your shop and what you're doing for us. And I hope that you are right about 2009. Would you mind telling us exactly what products the car had on it?

Sounds great. Give me a reason to break in the new motor, the right way. :P

From what I understand the car was set up just like mine with the same tune for the 6 speed manual. to show that the parts and the tune are a proper performance package. Not B.S. smoke and mirror ads and pic's. That these other companies put out with no real performance to them

Correct me if I'm wrong but it had a

JHM ECU, rotors, intake spacers (I didn't have them)& elbow bypass, Vast Dp's, and the JHM stage 2 clutch (for testing)

I don't know if there was anything else on the car but I do remember Jay was going to set up the car with the same parts me and a few other guys have to show that it really works. Clearly it dose

    Great Job Jay.
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

    That's awesome news Jay! Congrats!

For those that may not be familiar with this shop, its owner was actually an "old-school/o.g." Audizine member and has now gone onto to be a premier (IMHO) Audi aftermarket shop who R&D's and fabricates many of its own products, and despite the continuous growth still focus on customer support. The shop has really helped the B5 S4 community, so it's great to see they're sharing some of their wizardry and know-how with the B5's younger siblings.*

anyway those ECU's can undercut the price of the competition in an effort for you to steal all the business? Because you would have my business with lower prices and your proven performance. And if you can undercut companies like GIAC you would make a killing.

Sweet times for those mods. Do you think that with better/wider tires you can get the 60' time even lower? Do you have any vids of a complete 1/4 mile run? In the video you posted it speeds up right after the launch. Thanks.

Congrats on the times. Now where are all the haters that said a bolt on s4 wouldnt be nowhere near a 12 sec pass. There is still alot of improvement with the 60ft, if he cut a 1.8 or better that would of been a 12 sec pass for sure. Cant wait for my track to open again so i can go out and strieve to hit 12s with minor boltons. Props to JHM for making some good passes.

I eliminated the coolant lines that go through the throttle body on my glalant and there must be at least few other hundred people that did the same thing to their DSM's and I've never heard of stories of throttle bodies freezing up in the winter. The coldest I've driven the car without the lines going through must of been around -10* and it still ran fine.

As far as the intake spacer....again this is on a gvr4 with a fairly large front mount intercooler...I can touch the intake manifold and keep my hand there for a while where as with the stock intake I could barely touch it with my finger tips for a sec or two.

Wow... thats impressive for the NA V8.....

Out of curiosity, really, how much gains are you seeing from flashing the chip for the 4.2?

I'm wondering this too, and if it would be possible to get a tune that deletes the rear 02 sensors, I have some gutted catless milltek downpipes that are going on in spring and it would be great to not have to worry about cels.

well the coolant lines look like they're going thru the IAC valve or fast idle valve which does the same thing describing and I know on many vehicles if either fails....starting the car in colder climates can be rough. My g/fs camry has that now until I can replace the IAC valve because now it takes her like 10 minutes every morning to get it started. I just dont wanna run into any of these issues, not so much of the fuel lines freezing or sticking throttle plate.

On my Acura CL-S I had a lower temp thermostat, lower temp fan switch and a higher bar radiator cap lowering the overall running temp of my engine with no problems. But as an acura tech I see many many cases where the IAC valve goes bad and it causes a whole slew of starting and idling problems. I just dont wanna go down that path as many cars react differently.

I sent my ECU to vast for the JHM tune and I have the rear 02's turned off in my car. But you would have to ask JHM about that

There obviously can be the chance that your lines are different then mine but mine just run threw the elbow between the throttle body and the intake. I park out in the cold Chicago and Detroit streets for the past month with no issues.

I hear you. I removed the coolant lines on the gvr4 and also on a 91 eclipse gsx back in 2000 and they both start up just fine and idle fairly smooth (remember they're dsm's so they're never smooth lol) but they idle no matter the temperature. I guess each car/make/model is different. Try it one day and see what happens. If it doesn't like it you put it back. Worse come to worse you loose the $6 plus shipping and maybe 1/2 hour of your time.

It should be fine on any car as i live in a cold part of the country too. I had mine out when it was in the negatives and it was fine. I had no issues what so ever. It was also colder with the wind temps. I dont think anyone should have a problem with TBs sticking.

Now back to 12s, what was you launching at?

Do we send in the ECU for tuning? Very interested if the price is less than GIAC... just can't justify the cost for minimal HP gains.
