    Re: Chip suggestions?

    oh lord....here it goes....

im not trying to be an a$$, but i would recommend a search for that one...there are MANY opinions and people get a bit emotional about this one...

as a brief guide (and there are, of course other options):
    GIAC
    APR
    REVO

all will cost about the same...roughly a $500-600 base cost, plus some use flashers, others use the cruise control stalk, and there is a cost for multiple programs as well.

performance, amung the base chips, is pretty similar. also...what octane you have available might influence your choice...some have programs for 91 and 93, some with just 91...and of course the race files are out there too if you have access to 100+ octane gas. since you are in cali...all vendors have a 91 flash available.

    Re: Chip suggestions?

Haha... cool, thanks for the info.

Sorry for the unoriginal question, but I'm new Audi owner and I don't know much about what's available for this car. I know I can do a search, but to save time and benefit from other people's experience, I thought I'd take a chance and post this question on the board.

    Re: Chip suggestions?

search is your friend...most of the files have been rivesed since the original testing was done, so i am of the opinion that its 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. my one recommendation would be to find the shop nearest you that gives you the best percieved service...talk to them...see how they react to "dumb" questions...because you will want support down the road if something happens. none of these cars are indestructable...and they DO break periodically (no necesarilly because of mods)...so find a shop that is reputable, gives yuo warm fuzzies...then buy whatever option it is they have.

on a side note...the reason i posted about the above 3 tuners (versus MTM, Sportech, oetty, or the others is because you will hear about them most on these forums...hence you will get the most support here as well. plus, those 3 are all comparably priced.

    Re: Chip suggestions?

I've been asking around and I get mixed opinions about chipping a CVT. Of course I won't get as much out of it, but I don't mind giving it a try. I think I'm gonna go w/ the GIAC.

    Re: Chip suggestions?

Well if I floor it bellow 30mph wheels usually loose traction and almost always chirp in to second.

CVTs are not that bad on S, the downside of having CVT is the FWD.

Is the CVT on the 2.0 the same as the one in the 3.2?

You'll be pleased (can't speak for the CVT part though).

Anyone have any knowledge of this one? http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=123

Not sure if this is a CVT or manual chip...
